There are only two contenders for this genre of game pro evolution soccer and Fifa.
In my opinion Fifa wins every time it has better graphics better game play and it has more football players and football clubs.
Fifa 09 is definately the best fifa yet because the have added and added to it to make it so good, it is made my ea sports (electronic arts) who quite frankly everybody knows make a range of top quality games that please everybody all of the time.
Fifa 09 has a variety of different game modes including; manager mode, be a pro mode tournament mode and just plain old exhibition mode however they decided to add a new game mode called ultimate team which can be downloaded of the web from either ps3 or xbox 360.
In manager mode it is simple you are the manager of your chosen football club in this game type you can buy players sell players make players progress and get better you can even upgrade your stadium for those all important ticket sales. Thats how detailed and professional it is but the best part is even though you are the manager you can play with your team too.
In the be a pro mode you basically can either create a player and customise just about everything you ever wanted on a footie player or you can choose a real proffesional football player and use him, once you ahev chosen your player you move into you amazing career of being a football player and like all the world greats you start on the subs bench and work your way up to be an international superstar. (if you are good enough) However in this game type you are only your player and not any other team mates unless enabled in settings.
In tournament mode you also have two choices here you can create a tournament of you own pick all the team the type of cup and more, or you can use a existing cup such as the premiership or even the fa cup. once you have chosen its very straight forward you play you hopefully win and then go on to win your chosen cup!
In exhibition mode it is the easiest of them all you pick two teams and you play simples! Also you can play this online with friends or just any random people this is a good way to meet new people too if you wish.
Ultimate team is like a huge trading card game on you console you buy packs get players stadiums and kits the aim here make your squad the best and able to beat everyone else.
My favourite game type is manager mode because i find i can get in to it and really have fun but a have a competitive element to my game play too.
