Advantages: Gripping gameplay

Disadvantages: Short storyline, some glitches

Gears of War was one of the first third-person shooter games for the Xbox 360. It harbours brilliant graphics, gripping action and an interesting story line.
Although the game is a third-person shooter, the gameplay is very tactical. The player has the ability to move in and out of cover by using the A button of the controller. Unlike other games, it only takes moments to get into cover, against walls, pillars and other obstacles. The A button also allows the player to jump walls in order to progress forward. Another great feature to the gameplay of the game is the ability to blind-fire over cover. This means a player can lay down constant fire whilst regenerating health.

The downsides of the game are as follows:
The chainsaw bayonet of the Lancer weapon is hard to master and can often result in failure and death.
The graphics of the cut scenes may be viewed as mediocre especially those concerning the Raven helcopters.
Online play can become repetative and somewhat boring.
Unlike Halo 3, only 2 players can play together at one time. Gears of War exceeds Call of Duty 4 in this area, in which only one player can play online.
The "Gameover" screen is sometimes displayed when the player dies whilst reviving a friends on 2-player campaign even though this person is now able to revive you back.
Despite the listed disadvantages, Gears of War is a MUST BUY for Xbox 360. Almost everyone who has an Xbox 360 owns this game and knows it well as a gripping next-generation game which indulges the player in a world of masculinity and awesome gameplay.

Gears of War 2 is scheduled to be released in Novemer 2008 and is highly anticipated as the best game ever to be released on Xbox 360. it will feature chainsaw duels, ability to use downed enemies as moveing cover and more options on how to kill a downed enemy.
