      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Very good, ruined by last level really

      Ghost recon is a game by tom clancy, same person who brought you rainbow six. In this game you play a solider in part of an elite squad where they use sort of ultra good technology, and the latest weapons (all weapons in this game at the time of this game were actually experimental or brand new, none are sort of made up weapons!). Anyway, now this being a tom clancy game, you can't just run in guns blazing, you actually can die really easy from enemy fire, the idea is to outrange, outstealth your opponenets, and call in air strikes, sniper support and stuff like that.

      The story is all about dealing with terrorists in bosnia, and chile and some other random places. The game is actualyl really good, and although i didn't really follow the plot, i did enjoy the gameplay, it is really good, and for a game on this console, the graphics are very good.

      Anyway, the gameplay feels really involved, and you do feel like you are actually there at times. Furthermore, the gadgets aren't so futuristics that they couldn't be real if that makes sense. The main thing the the HUD, heads up display, which lets you highlight enemies and do stuff like that, and gives you a map. It doesn't feel like it couldn't be done if that makes sense.

      There is also a challenges mode, where you basically just try to fight off enemies for as long as you can. This was quite fun, as its just you with lots of built in machine guns and stuff holding off an entire army from say an embassy or something like that.

      One problem with this game is (what i presume to be) the last level. Basically some pilot in your group turns out to be bad, and trys to kill you in a apache helicopter. I just found this level way to difficult, and unfair against you, as you have 2 machine gun implants, with 1 friend, and an army of soliders attacking your postion, vs a helicopter with lock on missiles, and to mount/dismount the machine gun often doesn't work brilliantly as its the same button as crouch, so i would always die crouching at the machine gun instead of shooting. I just got fed up with it, and stopped playing.

      There is also a multiplayer mode online, but as i never had a ethernet cable for PS2, i could never connect to the internet, so i have no idea what this game mode was like.

      Overall its a pretty good shooter game, ruined by the last mission, but apart from that very very good. I would recommend it for any person who likes FPS games

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      An immense realistic shooter

      I am massive fan of all shooters and decided to get this one and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The first wow factor was the graphics and the subtle yet effective technique of adding real footage of past news reports on historical conflicts and/or military stand-offs.

      The main reason I love this game is the aspects of the character which is realistic as in some shooters you can run full speed for miles and jump 6ft ledges which is totally false of the real world. This game also forces you to be tactical and an effective team leader (when you do have a team with you) which is a role of a real high ranked soldier.

      There is no running and gunning in this game, run and your dead, this games feature of taking cover is well thought out. You can hide behind pretty much anything as long as it is solid and large enough and you can pop up and down and pick off targets as you send you allies to flank them on another side. The variety of guns is amazing and continues the realistic theme as every gun featured is real and used in parts of the world. As years have past since this came out there is actually a army get-up which integrates a camera feed by the eye so even the suit is real.

      If you like shooters that a realistic to actually wars and actual people then this game is one worth getting, the storyline will keep you engrossed as you tackle the 8+ hour campaign (on normal difficulty, 12+ on elevated).

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      This is a brilliant game which I would definitely recommend buying.

      This a shooter game where you play Cpt Mitchell: a leader of a U.S. black ops team trying to put down a Mexican rebellion. You are some times solo, some times commanding a squad of 3 ghosts, sometimes you get to issue orders to tanks and air support and occasionally you operate the 134 - this is the heavy machine gun on the side of the helicopter. Although you get to command other units you are always on the front line with them.

      You can play this in campaign mode i.e. by yourself through the story - you can also do the missions indvidually once you have unlocked them in campaign mode and it can be played in multiplayer.

      This game is all about the shooting - although sometimes being stealthy gives you a tactical advantage - you always need to shoot the bad guys. I much prefer this to some shooter games where you need to be stealth and actually complete levels by not being discovered. In this you are either advancing through a map to reach a position or person or staying stationery to defend a position.

      As a ghost you get a number of firearms to choose from including sniper rifles, fully automated light machine guns and a rocket launcher. As well as your primary weapon you always carry a side arm and grenades - a nice element of realism which is by no means unusual for this game. You have to be very accurate when shooting enemies and body shots won't kill an enemy outright - head shots do. And if you are using your sidearm (a 9mm pistol) trying to shoot an enemy from distance will get you nowhere fast. The bad guys will take cover, hide to surprise you, stand, crouch or hit the ground to make them a harder target. The enemies also have vehicles and helicopters.

      This game is difficult and can only be played on normal or hard, there is no easy. Although the less experienced gamers like myself will get killed quite a few times this doesn''t detract from the game. The reason for this is that when you are killed you just restart at your last checkpoint and the checkpoints are frequent (about 5-10 minutes apart) meaning you don't do an hour long mission only to be shot right at the end and have to do it all again.

      There are not that many different missions and in that sense one could mark it down for playability but on the other hand it has taken me about 10 hours to complete on normal alone and you can definitely keep replaying to improve your performance.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      What a good game

      I wanted a new shooting game so I decided that I would go to gamestation and have a look. I was looking at all the games when I saw ghost recon advanced warfighter. Can't remeber the price but it wouldn't of been that much as its quite old now. I really like the look of it so I decided to buy it.

      First time I played the game I was surprised at how goog the graphics were. For an old game they looked as good as a new game. EVerything was sharp and well defined from the buildings to the burning wreckage of a vehicle.

      Game modes

      Single player campaign is where you go from mission to mission fulfilling some sort of objective or task. These tasks vary in how long in takes to complete and how hard they are. I have to say though that none of them are a walk in the park. They all require you to be focused and thinking. In single player mode you are the leader and you have to boss your men where to go and what to do etc. You also have to use and master the cross com device so as you are able to implement air strikes or alert your team to any threats there are such as enemy foes.

      Multiplayer and online modes

      Ghost recon also has a very good online mode. Up to 16 players can play on xbox live modes. These are very fun to do but also very challenging as you don't know who you will be fighting against and you could be fighting against a foe. This can be frustrating as if you are you die very quickly indeed. But you shouldn't get frustrated take your time and you will soon be master at it. Another nice feature is that up to 16 players can co-operate through the campaign which is really fun to do.

      In the game you also use some actual reall military prototype weapons which is cool such as the cyre assualt rifle and wall piercing countersnipe rifles.

      Overall

      I really liked this game. The single and online modes are fun to do. I also like how hard the game is as this makes you want to get better and do well. When you get good at the game it also makes you fell like you have achieved something. Sound in the game is also excellent.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Brilliant if you want to play co-op

      Ghost Recon, a game that my dad has always played that I always thought was a bit rubbish and for what he does, play with numerous people over the internet, is a fairly anti-social thing to do, I still believe that with what he does but I got this game as a cheap co-op game to play with my mates over the net (note, they were my mates).

      So a few nights a week, when we weren't going out, we got on and played each other over the net, now here's a good positive for this game, I'm rubbish at war games, be it this, delta force or Call of Duty, but this game is very fun. The amount of laughs (and screams) we had playing this game probably won't be replicated again.

      The game is very good, I never actually played the single player missions through purely as I got this as a co-op game and didn't enjoy the single player, that's what the main point of this review is, it's very much a co-op game.

      The gameplay is very good, however the amount of guns to choose from wasn't high enough for my liking, the maps were very entertaining, the shooting was easy to get used to and the types of game available to play online were very good, you certainly also meet some characters online.

      To end this review, if you want a single player game I don't think this is for you, however you should note I'm not a big war fan game, I love playing war games chatting and playing with my mates but no other time, if you want a co-op game to have a lark with, get this game, if you want a single player game to play on a rainy day, get this, but only if you're really into war games.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      I think that this one is fun, but could have been made a tad more realistic.

      Tom Clancy is back, and not too shabby. In this game, you are Scott Mitchell, who tries to keep the peace unsuccessfully, and then has to end up rescuing the President from terrorists. The game is a first person shooter, and you can pick your own team, and pick your own custom weapons. The creators tried to make it as realistic as possible of a war game, and I would have to say that they have done a fairly good job. The unrealistic aspect is that you can heal your own teammates who are allegedly already dead within seconds. The game is supposed to be set in the future, and you and you team are a group of futuristic soldiers. To fight off the terrorists, after receiving training in the tutorial level, you have many new methods of fighting than before, like target lock, and you have a zoom camera, and a special lens that tells you the status of your teammates, and the health of everyone within a certain radius around you. While I must say that I enjoy this much more than the other stealth games, I am only giving this one four stars, because the gameplay does get unrealistic, and it is supposed to be just the opposite. Other than that, though, the game runs fairly smoothly, and has some A plus graphics.

      War Shouldn't Be This Addictive

      Last Tango In Mexico
      =================

      I'm a Tom Clancy fan, there I said it. I like his books, his films and I especially like his games. I know he probably does not have all that much involvement but I know that I'm going to enjoy playing them. Ubisoft now have his name exclusively.

      Ghost Recon was my first Tom Clancy game on the PC years ago, I've missed
      a few of the sequels out since then but I was keen to get back into the tactical shooter. Especially as it has such a good reputation. I find the campaign to be one of the most satisfying I have come across on the Xbox 360. It seems not online is what game developers are concentrating on and a lot of games the single player mode is short. Not here, a lot of attention has been made on the story and it is quite lengthy.

      You take control of Captain Scott Mitchell, what he lacks in personality he makes up for in skill. Most of the time he is leader of a small team, but sometimes he goes solo and you're on your own deep in enemy territory.

      The controls take a bit of getting used to but after a little while it becomes second nature. The cover system is very gooad, you scan peek around corners fire a few rounds then go back into cover easily or just take a quite look. The view is mostly third person.

      The AI of your team is generally good, however and as always there are a few
      times they can be frustrating. My biggest gripe is that you always have to direct your men to heal each other, even if they are right next to each other. Sometimes they get themselves into danger needlessly and end up getting shot. However, good use of your team has many benefits and add to the realism of the game. You can direct them and tell them to fight or go stealth.

      You can also issue orders to any supports you have such as tanks or helicopters. This adds to the game. Sometimes you can also use a reconnaissance drone to fly over an area and scan for bad guys, careful though as it can be shot down.

      There are two levels of difficulty, normal and realistic. Normal is no push over, with some very challenging moments. Realistic is pretty much one hit and your dead, and the enemy are better shots too. Having said that, realistic mode is not impossible.

      Graphically I couldn't ask for more, even now it stand up very well against the
      latest releases. Everything runs very smoothly, I haven't noticed any slow frame rates at all even with a lot of action on screen. The bad guys all look the same but that's not big deal.

      The sound is very well done, making you feel right in the thick of the action. The only slight annoyance is that your men's dialogue can get repetitive. Also, sometimes when they are in recon. mode and should be ultra quiet they'll shout out something, although I also find it amusing.

      Overall the game is highly absorbing, addictive. It is highly polished and has a very professional feel to it. The game is now available in the classics range so is at a bargain price, great value for a game that can still give acclaimed new releases a run for their money. It's a bargain.

      Recommended.

        Advantages

        Good game.

        Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter is a third person shooter for the Microsoft Xbox 360 games console.

        In this game you play as Scott Mitchell, and because you are you must rescue the president who is being held hostage.

        To do that you will need to take command of your ghost squad, in this third person tactical shooter. This game is quite difficult at first as a few well placed shots will send you to your grave. You will need to master your tactical shooter skills and master the futuristic cross com interface.

        The game is quite fun but there is little variety to the tactical action, although there is a great helicopter chain gun moment which is incredibly enjoyable.

        If you have the patience to master it, this game is incredibly fun. If you enjoy run and gun shooters this may not be for you.
        You can find this game for around £10.00 which is fantastic value.

        a great game cannot wait to buy the next one

        I love this game, the ability to lead a ghost squad, and a tank of ATV as well as a helicopter such as an Apachi gun ship, is unbelivible brilliant, the controls are remarkable good, and the game looks superb in High Definition, one thing i would say is that in some mission the limitations on the weapons you can use in annoying, however you can easily pick up another from an enemy after you have killed him.

        Another feature that i love about this game is the ability to switch your men between different modes, so that you can stealithy avoid oponents instead of wasting ammo on them. However it doesnt always work as sometimes your men take the quicket route to your position instead of taking the rout you took so you end up with them all gettin slaughtered by the enemy, with you trying to save the day.

        Action Entertainment at its best... if you like this genre.

        This is a fast absorbing intense first player action game which provides intense anxious moments of nervous stress and thrilling moments of action.

        Simply the best game I have played on the Xbox todate. The controls take a while to get use to, but the range of activities, the action sequences and the involving sound scape make it action entertainment at its best in an Xbox Game. .. if you like this genre! If you like these types of games, then at the present time of writing, (August 2007), this is the game to get and live and die on the sofa for.

            Disadvantages

            a fantastic, engrossing shooter, gave me hours of addicted play!

            At first glance, this looked like all the other action army games on the market.
            on first playing, it seems ridiculously complicated and hard - one shot and effectively your dead.
            however, after about 30 minutes of playing, you find that the controls are all logical and easy to use, and the game is as much about staying alive as it is killing people.
            The story follows on from the previous ghost Recon game, and builds upon that story.
            The in game cut scenes work fantastic, especially the new footage that is taken from actual new stories to increase realism.
            when linked up to surround sound, the tension and excitement created from the soundtrack is immense, it actually feels like you could actually be there!
            all in all, a very satisfying game!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Amazing game, well worth the money!

              The Tom Clancy series of games have been going on for a long time now, and we now come to the newest installment in his legion of games. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (referred to ad GR:AW from now on).

              :::::Background:::::

              In GR:AW you control a captain named Scott Mitchell, known as Captain Scott Mitchell funnily enough, in the year 2013. Throughout the game you will be commanding a team of four (including yourself) known as Ghosts through a series of challenging recon missions. There are also a few support vehicles that will come to aid you with your missions. The story is basically about a raid in Mexico City where some presidents are taken hostage and it is up to you to find and rescue them, as well as track down the culprit.

              :::::Graphics:::::

              The first thing that hits you when you start playing the game are the graphics, it may even take some people two ro three minutes to recover from the amazement (slight exaggeration there). The detail on your playable character and your squad members is simply amazing. However when you look into the smaller things these great graphics seem to fall apart. For instance the cars, buildings and the ground all have low resolution textures. The enemy soldiers also are of a much lower standard to your squad. So with these things, why does the game still look so good? I will tell you...

              Firstly the lighting, the way the game sets out its lighting really makes you feel that you are there and that is very important in a game. When you look towards the sun there is glare and this reflects of everything in the game. Every object has a different reaction to the light and so this gives a big boost to the games graphical style.

              The second reason why it looks so good is the way it handles its draw distance (for those who don't know this is how far away objects are rendered). This can be best seen when flying in a helicopter, the entire city has been rendered and you can gaze out from one side the other which is truly impressive.

              :::::Gameplay:::::

              You start the game in a training session which is always a good thing, because anyone knew will want to have a go at practicing the controls and such before being thrown into a combat situation, even though the training session does have some combat in it.

              Cover is a highly important aspect of this game as it can save you from life and death, especially as on hard mode it is one shot one death, so you need to stay under cover. You can duck down behind nearly every object in the game (not lampposts and trees as this is not a cartoon after all). You get to command your ghost squad with a very simple method of pressing the d-pad in one of the four directions (up, down, left, right) and you can instruct them to take cover or you go all in and charge at the enemy.

              Throughout your missions you get to command a number of vehicles, these include a UAV which is a little flying satellite type thing, tanks and helicopters. The UAV is a little flying satellite that you can command to scout the area of enemies for you. This is very handy when trying to work out the safest root towards your target. The helicopters and tanks work the same way as your ghost squat, however they are far more powerful and the helicopters can only be shot down by anti-air missiles which makes it a very valuable part of your team.

              :::::Sound:::::

              The sound in the game is fantastic. Every gun has its out unique sound and the explosions are nice and loud (as they should be). The voice acting is done extremely well with no cheesy lines and it all sounds very professional and believable.

              With a surround sound set-up you will truly feel like you are there which is exactly the experiance that you are lookng for in an immersive game.

              :::::Multiplayer:::::

              The multiplayer portion of GR:AW (online and offline( is almost a completely different game to the single player campaign. Your character does not move in the same way as Scott Mitchell does, and you can not press yourself up against walls and buildings to peek around corners etc. The graphics have been toned down somewhat but still look really good. Multiplayer in GR:AW is indeed great fun… when you can get a game that is. Frequently you will get booted out from a server and it can take a while to get a good game going, but once you do the online game plays really well with little to no lag. The good choice of maps and modes of play make for a really varied multiplayer game which has something for everyone.

              :::::Downside:::::

              GR:AW does however have some flaws, for instance the AI (artificial intelligence) does not live up to the name of intelligence. You may give a command to your team and then they will randomly run around in circles and look lost, even while they are getting shot at by the enemy. The people you need to protect do the same sorts of things, they do not stay behind cover but instead run everywhere you do and then run into the open and get shot which can be very frustrating.

              The AI of the enemy however is a little bit better, but can still be improved. They will flank around you so they can catch you off guard, they have a pretty good vision too, if you step out from cover while they are looking in your direction they will quickly jump for cover ad begin firing in your direction. However they do have their bad sides too, sometimes you can run all the way up behind one of them without them noticing then shoot them from two millimeters away. Its not perfect but an improvement over your friendly NPCs (non player characters).

              With all these good things comes the bad things. There are a number of glitches, none of which stop you from playing or completing the game but are more of an annoyance. For instance when running up a slope it looks as if you character is hopping and half falling over every few steps which to begin with is funny but becomes very annoying after the ten thousandth time of seeing it happen. Sometimes textures do not load so it looks like you are walking of a big black blob which only rarely happens but when it does it can ruin the experience.

              :::::Final Thought:::::

              Overall GR:AW offers a lot to any tactical shooter fan and will last a lot of gameplay time. The good points outweigh the bad by a long shot and it is a game well worth picking up. You can pick this game up for around 30 pounds on the Xbox 360 depending on where you buy it. It is also available for the original Xbox, PS2 and PC however the PS2 and Xbox versions do not have as good graphics and has toned down gameplay compared to the Xbox 360 and PC versions.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  A well thought out title for the XBOX 360 for one of the first releases

                  I purchased this one the arrival of my XBOX 360 and still cant stop playing it. The addictive gameplay makes for a challenging yet rewarding Xbox 360 title.
                  You take control of a soldier with a first person or over the shoulder view of the battlefield , the moves i can perform like sliding whilst shooting at the enemy looks amazing.
                  The weapons at my disposal are set from present day to near future , I still like the sniper rifle and that u can hold your breathe so that u dont make the scope move around as much , that adds to the gameplay. Dropped in from the helicopter onto the battlefield with the abaility to call in support when your under pressure of tanks and whatever gets thrown at you in this intense battlefield game.

                  Pro's

                  Four online multiplayer campaigns with upto 16 players.
                  Singleplayer campain increases with difficulty
                  Easy to pickup and play
                  Amazing graphics and AI

                  Con's

                  Annoying when u dont see the enemy at far range
                  When your stuck on a level u will be for ages.

                  The game looks stunning it's lighting effects from the bullets fragging of posts , grenades blowing parts of the streets away. It's a highly polished Xbox 360 title on the scene of Call of Duty 2 but in a whole new genre for the Xbox 360.
                  A massive multiplayer campaign with so many options u will be there a long time. And now £ 24.99 it's one of the cheaper XBOX 360 titles
