GTA IV: The Lost And Damned

This is an expansion pack for the massively popular Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360, released earlier in the year. It is based around the main premise and storyline of the original game but with some great new guns, cars and gameplay modes. It is available via the xbox marketplace for 800 MS points.

I was a massive fan of the original game and this first expansion pack of over 20 missions is a great asset to the series. You play Johnny Klebitz, a member of a liberty city biker gang known as the lost. You play through a total of around 20 missions that follow the usual GTA format of going to kill a guy or a bunch of guys, or stealing something and bringing it to a location unharmed. These are fun but i would have liked to have sen dome more development in this area with the addition of a few more interesting mission types. There are however a tasty new selection of multiplayer modes to get your teeth into, which are:

Witness Protection - One team is The Lost biker gang and they must try to eliminate a bus carrying witnesses while the other team is NOOSE who try to protect the bus as it delivers the witnesses to police stations around Liberty City.

Race - Racing on bikes with racers carrying bats and smashing each other, similar to the video game Road Rash.

Lone Wolf Biker - Free for all style mode where one player is the Lone Wolf and all other players must chase and kill that player to become the Lone Wolf. At the end of the game, whoever was the Lone Wolf for the longest time, wins.

Own the City - Try to gain control of the city section by section, based on San Andreas' gang wars.

Club Business - Like the original Mafia mode in GTA IV, but with a total of 8 players riding together as one gang. You receive calls from Angus who tells you to carry out certain tasks for The Lost.

Chopper vs. Chopper - Helicopter vs bike. Bike rider tries to get through checkpoint while helicopter tries to stop the biker.

I think these modes add alot to the enjoyment of the game because theres just so much to do! i especially enjoyed the witness protection mode which seems to be the most popular! Overall i think that for 800 MS points your getting alot for your money with this expansion pack. New bikes to ride and guns such as the grenade launcher and automatic shotgun add real depth and tactics to your gameplay, and the new - if same old - missions are fun to play and do get hard eventually unlike the original game. In my opinion this expansion is a must-buy for fans of the original series and at a bargain price!

Summary: A cool expansion for the original game, if a little to similar for a complete extra add-on
