Now if you have read my other reviews ou may be aware I like a bit of sing along with friends I think its a great way to entertain yourself and friends with a bottle of wine or 3, lets face it the more you drink the better you sound right!? lol. The game can be picked up for around £16 online but check out your local CEX store or other games stores and see if they have it pre owned. So Lips is the xbox answer to Singstar for the Playstation and I love it just as much if not more. This one has the following tracks on: What's Up - 4 Non Blondes Black Velvet - Alannah Myles Rehab - Amy Winehouse Doctor Jones - Aqua Love Shack - The B-52's Let's Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas Word Up - Cameo Tubthumping - Chumbawamba Rhythm Of The Night - DeBarge Groove Is In The Heart - Deee-Lite I Touch Myself - Divinyls American Pie - Don McLean Son Of A Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor Laid - James You're Beautiful - James Blunt Rock and Roll All Night - KISS Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5 To Be With You - Mr. Big These Boots Are Made for Walking - Nancy Sinatra True Faith - New Order Live if Life - Opus When A Man Loves A Woman - Percy Sledge Every Rose Had Its Thorn - Poison Brass in Pocket - The Pretenders Shiny Happy People - R.E.M I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred Addicted to Love - Robert Palmer Kiss Me - Sixpence None The Richer Wannabe - The Spice Girls Friday I'm in Love - The Cure My Sharona - The Knack Unchained Melody - The Righteous Brothers I Think We're Alone Now - Tiffany It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones Red Red Wine - UB40 Y.M.C.A. - Village People Is This Love - Whitesnake I have listed all the songs as I think you need to know whats on here before you make a choice to buy no use buying and finding you don't like half the songs now is there. I think you will agree there is pretty much something for everyone on the list here and there is more choice than you tend to get on singstar games. To play the game itself you will need some lips microphones I picked mine up from CEX for £4 each bargain. I would always advise with these games if you want to play with others and you can play up to 4 for this one then you go to your local CEX or even Game or Game station and ask if they have any pre owned ones you save yourself a good amount by doing this. Anyway the thing I like about lips is the microphones are wireless and they flash, its the small things in life that please me lol. The microphones need 2 aa batteries to power them and then you link them to your xbox and away you go. The wirless mics give you the opportunity for more movement as you sing as well lol. You select your song of choice and sing along to the original music video to match that song whilst the game picks up your notes to tell you how well you are doing. At the end you are rated for how well you have done you never know you might even be a 'superstar'. Overall I love this game as I am currently trying to save money nights in have become the new going out and his game provides hours of entertainment for me and my friends. I will say playing on my own is not so much fun though I like to compete with this one.
Lips is a video game for the Xbox 360, 4 people can play at any one time, microphones are wireless. Users can create a profile and use it to keep track of their progress, and friends progress while using the game. Each game disk comes with 40 tracks to choose from and more available to download using Microsoft points. Various modes are available on each track like Time Bomb (a glass fills with water on the screen the more you sing, a bomb is also ignited, tilt the microphone as you sing to pour the water over the flame), Kiss ( a couple are standing apart, the more you sing the closer they get together, keep the good work up the longer they kiss thus more points for you, and Vocal Fighters Sing better than the other player to bathe in the spotlight, keep it up to kick your rival of the stage and and win the round. all modes can play singular vs the computer or with a challenger. Most songs also come with the original artists recorded video. Users gain points by singing at the correct time, and for the correct length of time, also by using the microphone when required for gestures, eg tilt microphone when bonus bar is full to gain double points until the time runs out. Tracks from this disk include Alannah Myles Black Velvet, Dusty Springfield son of a preacher man, Right said Fred I'm too sexy, Village people YMCA, Mr. Bigg to be with you and 35 others.
If you have read any of my other reviews for the Lips games, then you'll know that I'm a big fan. Lips is a singing game for the Xbox. These games seem to be getting more and more popular now, with them appearing on lots of different games consoles. I remember back in the day longing for a Playstation 2 so I could have Singstar as it was the only karaoke game available! (If you're interested, I never got it *sob*, its most probably why I'm such a huge fan of Lips as I've been waiting so long for it!) For those who dont know anything about Lips, it is basically a karaoke game for the Xbox, words come up on your TV and you sing your little heart out! The original game comes with two wireless microphones, which is great as you're not tied down to being right in front of the TV. It's also handy because with Lips you need to do a few dance moves - nothing serious for any dancaphobes out there - but if your singing score isnt up to scratch you can improve it and try to beat your opponent with a couple of good moves! You can add to your lips song collection through Xbox live (though this is slightly expensive but it is a nice way to keep your music list fresh) and also through plugging in your mp3 player (though if you do this you need to know the words well as Lips will just turn it in to a karaoke tune without words on the screen). Lips is a great way to spend a Saturday night with friends (who preferably cant sing as well as you!) as it will provide you all with a good giggle! Lips Party Classics is the second game add on for the original Lips (the first add on being Lips: Number One Hits). Its another CD with an extra forty songs to sing along to. Whats great about this game is that the songs are really good, with loads of different songs from the sixties right through to the noughties. Theres a great range of songs that everyone, young and old, will know including: Word Up - Cameo American Pie - Don McKean She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5 These Boots Are Made For Walking - Nancy Sinatra I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred Kiss Me - Sixpence None The Richer Y.M.C.A - Village People Nearly all the songs come with the original video which is a great touch. When I first played the game I was more interested in remembering the videos than singing along! I also loved the fact that this game had the most songs out of all the other games that I actually recognised, with there being only a couple of the forty songs that I didnt really know. The only issue I have with this game is that during the Y.M.C.A. - you're expected to sing it and not do the moves! This ends up with me doing some odd movements, that vaugley resemble the Y.M.C.A., so that I can sing in to the mic and do the dance aswell! This has ended up with me dropping the mic on my head...so I'm a little unhappy about that but I'm sure I'll find a way to do it perfectly soon! If you already have Lips, I cant recommend this add on highly enough. Another forty songs for less than 13.00 (price from amazon) is a bargain. Expecially when a song on Xbox live will set you back around 1.50. If you have an Xbox and dont already have Lips - why not? Go and buy it now!
