Advantages: Many classes, interesting campaigns, feels epic.

Disadvantages: Can be frustrating

Lord of the Rings Conquest is a game that promises to let you live the epic battles in the Tolkiens land of Middle Earth.

The story mode follows that of the Lord of the Rings films and Hugo Weaving who is Elrond in the films narrates giving it an authentic feel. During the War of the Ring campaign you will take the fight to Mordor and end Sauron. There is an evil campaign, the Rise of Sauron, too which is a very interesting scenario, Frodo is stopped and Sauron gets his power back and takes the fight to the rest of Middle Earth! A nice treat for all the fans.

The gameplay is rather like that of Star Wars Battlefront, you can pick from a number of classes of fighters, the Warrior who carries a sword and can do some special flame sword attacks, the Archer who uses a bow and can snipe enemies and use special arrows, the Mage who attacks with his lightning staff and can heal allies and the Scout who can turn invisible and backstab enemies. You also get the opportunity to play as hero characters but sadly they are just re skinned versions of the regular warriors and don't get their own unique moves.

The game is quite fun as you will engage in many epic battles involving many soldiers on screen at once, when its all going well it feels great as you will have to pick the right class for the job and use tactics to win the battles.

Unfortunately instead of tactics the computer relies on being cheap to make the game challenging, you will often get backstabbed out of nowhere, fall off a ledge after being knocked down, destroyed by an impossibly good shot from an archer and because you only have a few lives you will have to replay levels more than you would like.

It can be a little frustrating at times but if you're looking for some epic battles and an authentic Rings experience, this is your game.

Summary: Good game.
