      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      An okay fighting game

      Marvel VS Capcom 3 is a classic fighting style game like the other street fighters, but what is good about the Marvel VS Capcom series is the variety of characters that are available, so if you do not like Capcom characters you can play as the Marvellous Marvel characters, or the other way around. Unfortunately the computers AI are extremely poor and are very easy to KO, however this is a very good game if you do not like a challenge. This game in some ways is fairly easy to complete even on the most difficult difficulty a toddler could complete it. It is also very repetitive and they is no skill involved because someone could just button mash and complete the whole game in less than half an hour. Overall this is an OK game it has some bad qualities but many good qualities, I recommend renting it but not buying it.

        One of the best fighting series of all time finally reaches the Xbox 360 and all I can say is WOW!

        == Marvel vs Capcom 3 ==
        I have always been a huge fan or Capcom games and when a relative told me about Marvel vs Capcom 3 coming out soon I was actually really looking forward to it. Although the game is Marvel vs Capcom 3 it is in actual fact the fifth in the series and by far the best. Marvel vs Capcom 3 is a crossover fighting game developed by Capcom (creators of Resident Evil) and the game itself features characters from previous Capcom games and also characters from Marvel Comics. The game is also on the PS3 as well as the Xbox 360. The basic plot to the game is actually a bit of a let down. Although its not the fact it doesn't make any sense, its the way they have assembled it. You can play as any three characters on the game and your aim is to fight all the way through different battles. Doctor Doom (Fantastic Four) has joined forces with the pure evil that is Albert Wesker (Resident Evil). They have both gathered their greatest villains and joined forces in order to take control of their respected universes. However a much greater threat, threatens to destroy both planets. Now the Marvel and Capcom characters have to team up to put a stop to this. Can you save the universes?

        === Gameplay ===
        The gameplay to Marvel vs Capcom 3 is really good and the game can become quite addictive. The basic story is the same for each character but they all have their own unique ending. At the main menu there are several options to pick from such as offline mode, online mode, gallery, options and a few others. In the main offline story mode, you get the choice of picking 3 fighters out of more than 32. These 3 characters then have to fight through so many rounds. When fighting its actually 3 vs 3. As you progress further you then take on the boss. Each battle gets harder and harder as you progress further. When in battle, you have a health meter, your two partners health meters, a timer, certain messages, hyper combo and an information board all on screen at once. Luckily this doesn't narrow your view of the game in any way.

        When your picking character you have the ability to pick your assist type. Assist types determine the type of assist attack used by your off-screen partners. You can select one of three assist types. Each character you pick has different costumes that can be accessed by pressing a different button. For example, on the game there is Ryu from Streetfighter and if you press a certain button he ends up wearing Kens outfit from Streetfighter. So its almost like another character. There really are a wide range of characters to choose from. Some of these are Wolverine, Iron Man, Hulk, She-hulk, Chris Redfield, Dante (Devil May Cry), Spiderman, Albert Wesker, Captain America, Viewtiful Joe and many more. Also the basic controls to the game can be simple and it all depends on the gamer. To master the combos and special attacks it takes time and effort like most fighting games. There are also a lot of different places to fight. These places have also been taken from Capcom games.

        === Game Modes ===
        On Marvel vs Capcom 3 there are many different game modes to play, which make this a more exciting game and a more enjoyable one. I have listed bellow the game modes with a brief detail about them and what needs to be done on them.

        *Training mode is just so you can get used to each character and the basic game controls. If your pause during the training you can learn how to do the huge combos and other parts from there.

        *Missions mode is quite simple in places but gets extremely hard later on. What you have to do in this mode is, with the character your using you have to do the required move thats listed on screen at the time. These start off fairly easy but later on they become very hard to accomplish.

        *Offline Arcade mode is the main mode for offline gamers. Its where the story of the game is and your aim is to battle through all the required rounds and save the universes.

        *Versus mode is for you to take on a friend. This mode is also offline and does require at least two Xbox 360 controllers.

        *Xbox Live Ranked Match is the main mode for online play. Online play requires you to have a gold membership and internet access. You take on anyone from around the world in a 3 vs 3 battle. Some of these people are very good. As you beat more and more people online you gain experience and with this experience you then start to fight better people. There is a ranking system on this mode, which lets you see where your ranked in the world.

        *There are a couple of other modes such as a normal online match but on that mode you don't acquire any experience what so ever. Also you can create a lobby with up to 8 players. This is quite fun for about 4 players. Anymore and you'll be waiting ages for a fight. This mode is basically winner stays on and the others take turns trying to beat you.

        === Graphics ===
        The graphics to Marvel vs Capcom 3 are very innovative and bring the game to life. The graphics are really good for a fighting game. The basic design of each character is brilliant and they look even better than the respected games they are from. Some of the characters are really updated well. One example of this is Haggar from the old Final Fight game looks very similar to what he does in that but obviously with the updated graphics he looks much better. He also has many different moves. Each character has been designed perfectly and they all equally impressed me. The graphics are powered by an advanced version of MT Framework which was used in games like Lost Planet 2 and one of my personal favourites Resident Evil 5 (both Capcom games). The basic design of each place the battles commence is smartly done. They are all taken from other Capcom games but they have been made to look much better and they do. Overall the graphics to Marvel vs Capcom 3 are really good and they surprised me a lot.

        === Sound ===
        The sound effects to the game are equally impressive. The music does seem a little plain and ordinary and very similar to the older Marvel vs Capcom games but thats how it was designed and I think it works to its advantage. Each character are designed with their own sound effects. They're not voice activated which isn't at all a surprise. Although a few of the characters are voice activated but in Japanese. Also each character comes with their own special move sound effects and some of these really bring the game to life. One of my personal favourites is Iron Man and its not just because of his almost indestructible suit. His sound effects are unique and give you the perfect feeling of the actual Iron Man. There are lots of characters with their own unique sound effects and they all make a similar impact. The sound effects when navigating the menu is pretty much perfect and I cant really fault it there. Overall I was very impressed with the sound to Marvel vs Capcom 3.

        === Difficulty & Longevity ===
        Now the difficulty of the game does vary. In the story mode it does start off reasonably easy and if your a more experienced gamer, you'll be flying through the levels. However as you get further the game becomes slightly more difficult. The fighters get harder to beat and they start using every power and special they can on you. The basic controls can take a little while to get used to but if you want you can change them in the options to suit you more easily. The difficulty in Missions mode is far more harder but the rewards are much greater. Your given easy combos to start with but as you progress further, you find yourself trying to smash out a 40 hit combo and sometimes more. Online gaming varies in terms of difficulty. It starts off with newcomers such as yourself and also the less experienced gamer. These fights can be difficult but they can also be easy. As you gain ranks and get better you find yourself fighting more experienced fighters around the world. Some of these gamers can be ridiculously good and almost impossible to beat. The games longevity is also really good. Although the story mode only takes on average about an hour to get through you still have to go through more than once. Each time you complete the game you acquire new items. Also you get different endings for different characters. The best part is the online gameplay because the game can last ages with this. It could possible last until the next BIG online game is released. Overall the game can be difficult in places but its worth it.

        === Good Bits ===
        *The game features over 32+ playable characters all with their own unique moves.
        *Marvel vs Capcom 3 has some very updated and improved graphics that bring the game to life.
        *There are a wide range of different game modes featured on the game and can the game itself can last a lifetime.
        *There is lots of variety to the gameplay of the game!

        === Bad Bits ===
        *The game does get quite repetitive and if you play for to long, you may get some sore fingers!
        *The game can become quite tricky and hard as you get further into the game.
        *Some of the game modes seem pretty pointless.
        *The basic story to the game is slightly weird and hard to follow!

        === Other Bits ===
        Marvel vs Capcom 3 is a top quality game. It does have a few problems and one is if your a button basher, then your thumbs and fingers will ache because they're isn't any thinking time on this and its all action non stop. The games manual is really easy to read and it gives lots of useful information. The basic design of it is easy to follow and it lists everything you would need to know about the game. At the back of the book there is a list of characters with a list of their moves, so its pretty simple when you know how right?. I would recommend this game. I do feel it is one of the better fighting games and I do feel these games don't get the recognition they deserve. They're are over 32+ playable fighters. So many from Marvel and so many from Capcom games. My personal favourites are Iron Man, Wolverine, Wesker and Deadpool. I do think its value for money because the game has so many different modes and so many characters. I also think its value for money because the game can almost last a lifetime. I bought the game when it was first released back in February this year. The game set me back £39.97 from my local Game shop and a good thing about my copy was the fact it came with a limited edition Marvel vs Capcom 3 T-shirt. I was well chuffed. The game is still selling round £30 on places such as Amazon and Ebay. I do think its still worth that amount as plenty of gamers still play it. The game has a rating of 12+ and this is mainly because it contains fighting but I don't see what harm it could do. Overall Marvel vs Capcom 3 is one of the best fighting games I have played and it features lots of variety. I would give Marvel vs Capcom 3 a very reasonable 8/10!
