Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (Xbox 360)

Advantages: its great they kept the good things and pushed DC as far as they'd go
Disadvantages: DC are annoying because they didnt let midway go all the way
Well i was highly concious about buything this game as i am and have always been a massive fan of the mortal kombat series as well who doesnt like to rip their best friend's arm off and then proceed to beat them with it or to throw a spear and shout "GET OVER HERE" to proceed with setting them on fire or just simply breaking their neck, This is what the MK franchise was known for just with the pure violence mixed with the comedy of the creators to create one epic game,
And then MK vs DC universe was announced.
My head exploaded at the thought of smashing bat man into millions of pieces or dropping liu kangs famous MK arcade machine onto Superman but then as i continued to read more about the games my dreams were slowly smashed one by one
The first to die was the lack of decapitation and gore, it was announced that DC universe would not allow proper fatalitys (overkill style moves that tend to involve awesomeness and one of MK's defining features) because they felt that people would not agree with the invicible superman being killed by the might of raiden's thunder or batman the "dark knight" and protector of gotham to simply have his face pummeled into the concerete by sub-zero
The next do die was the massive character choice you had which was enormous with armageddon (the latest MK only game had Every MK character and more) and that they choose to only allow the most defining characters into the game
But enough about dreams being smashed and onto my actual experience of the game
The story mode was short but that is not what mortal kombat is about (its about killing friends, duh) infact i managed to do the MK side of the story within an hour which also had the suprisingly easy boss fight at the end (flawless victory dark kahn yeah you wont live that down) compared to the hell that was killing Blaze on the hardest difficulty in armageddon
The new "air combat/ Test your might/ Close Combat" was actually funnier than i thought it would be and actually proved to be one of those match changing things causing a maximum of 30% damage which in a game like this will mean the difference between victory and loosing, but yeah nothing beats slamming the joker through 6 walls damn that put a smile on my face when i first did it
The fatalities, Now any person thats played MK before will know that this is one of the things that makes the game different than other fighters (besides the pure brute force realism :O) which even though they are meant to be reduced versions of the former fatalities that does not reduce the factor of how fun they are, Was also pleased that they kept liu kangs arcade machine fatality,
graphics, now alot of people are saying the graphics arent as good as they expected but then i say they are looking too hard and then begin to reply with that they aint looking good enough as when you fight and where you hit your opponant and with which weapon will determine which marks they get such at cuts bruises black eyes and even some clothing gets knocked off (scorpions face mask for example)
conclusion Buy it, it is a shadow of its former self but it still a MK game and the key things are still there even if they arent the proper things
Summary: Its a MK game :P and that is how it will be known, the game that let you kill superman and co

air and close combat seems interesting, reminds me of the dbz budokai games though
