Need for speed: Pro Street is perhaps the worst racing game I've ever played! I am a big car lover, and so thought I would like this game regardless, I was very wrong!
You work your way through an incredibly boring and repetitive career, attempting to become the 'Street King'
There are four recurring race events:
* Drag Racing (test of straight line speed down a 1/4 or 1/2 mile strip),
* Grip Racing (Circuit racing),
* Speed Racing (Point to point racing)
The game is constantly far too easy (even on the hard settings) and features the worst thing a racing game can include: "catch-up"
Catch-up is basically a tool added (and not able to be turned off), so that anyone behind first place will be able to drive a lot faster, and if you're first, those behind will be able to catch you up very easily - this removes any skill from the game and means no matter how good you are, you'll never get away from the computer cars and no matter how bad you are you'll still be able to win with ease.
The only redeeming feature of ProStreet (and it is quite a big one), is that it has stunning graphics, the game does look gorgeous, but the disastrous gameplay ruined it for me.
It's widely regarded that the Need For Speed series has been below-par since Most Wanted, ProStreet was not an exception to this... Let's hope that the newest Need For Speed, "Shift", due out next month, will be alot better!
Need for Speed ProStreet when released certainly brought the fun, brilliant graphics and sound effects back to the racing game scene. Need for Speed games were more commonly known for their street racing set ups which saw you speeding down the busy streets and quater miles in order to beat your oponents through reactions and skill, this addition however took racing to the next level by being a track racing game.
There were four kinds of racing: Drag, Speed, Circuit and Drifting. This ment you needed four different cars in order to win four very different kinds of racers, this made the game extremely revolutionary to the others which consisited of one car for every kind of racing layout.
Some poeple seemed to be disappointed as the boy racing image had disappeared from the Need for Speed games but this exact change made ProStreet a great game which had some brilliant cars such as the Lamborghini Mercielago and the Porsche 911 GT2 thrown in along the way to create the brilliant speed freaks game.
At its current price even though it has been replaced by the brilliant Need for Speed Undercover, ProStreet is a super game and well worth the buy at £6.99 on ebay inc.
This game was a big no no for need for speed because they bought the cars off the roads on to the track . the controls are useless every time you try and turn the car doesn't want to do anything unlike the others in the series they were really good sensitivity. the layout for the game is very complicated and not organised properly which makes it hard for you to see if you've made any progress at all which I don't find very impressive . I will how ever say the cars are very well detailed and a good selection of cars are available like the Volkswagen r32 golf the Nissan,Mazda, and a wide range of cars for each type of race from race to drift they are all in categories to determine what use they have if i was to say buy a car game it wouldn't be this one i would go for something like pgr or forza or any other need for speed thanks for reading .
Another one in the series of Need for Speed, but this time they've taken the cars off the street onto the tracks. I think this was a mistake.
What differentiates Need for Speed was their modifications abilities, wild bodykits, crazy flat out driving round bends, obscene crashes and police chases. Now don't get me wrong, the game itself is great. You need to do burnouts before entering a drag race to heat your tyres, affecting how much grip yu get off the line, the crash scenes are good and the tweakingof the cars is OK, but I would have much preferred if they focused on what tey know best!
The Need for Street undergrounds and most wanteds were a good laugh and didn't require must concentration, I used games such as Forza and GT for simulation games.
I find NFSPS has got lost in the middle of the two. The graphics are immense but I really wish I had not spent the £40 and rented it instead, even now, I've only completed 4 out of the 12 levels and go back to the game I originally had (Forza 2).
I really recommend renting the game first, for the sake of a fiver, try before you buy.
Need For Speed Pro Street is a racing game for the Microsoft Xbox 360 games console.
This is the newest game in the popular need for speed series, and it has been totally changed from the previous versions. Change however is not always a good thing.
You still have many events and different types of races to choose from, normal races, speed challenges, drag races and so on.
The car handling has been changed dramatically, in this game a much more realistic approach has been taken. It is like they wanted this to mimic Forza Motorsport. However they have not got it quite right, all the cars feel more like boats.
This more realistic driving model does not work well, and leaves you wanting the arcade style of previous games.
Even if you are a diehard fan of this series you will probably be better off without playing this. If you must you can buy this game for about £20.00.
from first playing on this game i have got to say i loved it, it is most definitely the best game for racing i have played on yet,the graphics and sound effects are really realistic and believable.i would rate this game 7 or 8/10 and it is suitable for any age,the only downside to this i would say is nitrous effect boost and how to upgrade the cars.
overall i would say this game is great and is good for anyone who likes racing games. The imagination of the creator i think has thought hard to impress on the complete development of the game and i think the sound effects put you in the car which is missing from alot of game of this nature i think. The controls are made easy to work with some good options to enhance your game, What would be a good addition to this game would be a enhancement to the surrounding areas and scenes which i think in some areas could be improved, however overall the game is excellent.
