Advantages: Easy G, simple and easy to follow. Kids would enjoy it
Disadvantages: Terrible graphics and physics, sensitivity is flawed, lizards are annoying.
I bought this game for the easy 1000g, the gamerscore takes just a couple days (sometimes even a day for the more experienced players) and you get yourself a a total of 44 achievements to add to your profile. If you bought this game for the gamerscore too then great, a good game, not that stressful and does not require much kinect activity. But if you bought this for kids, or for anyone who knows what makes a good xbox game, then no, it's not recommended. Here's why:
For a kick off the graphics. At the end of the final level you have to smash bulbs, but you can clearly see they are all smashed then when the doors go up,, guess what? There are fixed and you have to smash them all over again. Highly unbelievable. The mouth's of the penguins have very little movement when they talk and the underlayer of the world (the sky) can be seen through rocks when you brush up close to them. Looking through all the textures and layers of solid objects into an endless pit of sky.
The sound is goo though, they use all the real voices from the Madagascar movies and they sound just as good in the video game as they do in the movie. Some of the things the characters say can be a little pedantic and annoying (Marline for example, and here silly trivia questions) but other than that, quite good. There are two difficulty levels, easy and hard, both of which seem exactly the same to me but one of them scores a 120g achievement and the other, 80g.
The gameplay is simplistic and very easy to follow. It is a bit short with the game taking around two days to complete. There are 12 levels and quite a few hidden lizards to find. The lizards are the hardest part of the game and i would only expect older players to go for these since they can be not only tricky but time consuming.
Another fault i found was the lack of sensitivity on the challenges particularly with the hang time ones, the don't seem to register jumps that well and getting a perfect rating is difficult even for me, a full grown man who plays penguin kinect games haha.
Overall it's not a good game. But then again, why would it be? its designed for children but even they might point out it's very obvious flaws. Gamerscore hunters you will enjoy this, it's easy and simple. Game critics though, don't bother.
Summary: Children under 10 might enjoy this, critics will hate it, G hunters will love it.
