      Grand Theft Auto on horseback

The phenomenal success of the Grand Theft Auto series means Rockstar have a high level to live up to. And with Red Dead Redemption, they do just that.

Set in the early 1900's, the game follows John Marston, who has struck a deal with the FBI to exchange his freedom for the heads of his old gang members. What plays out is a terrific story, in a sprawling southern American setting.

To say "Imagine Grand Theft Auto, but in the Wild West" is not at all false, but there are some different features and gameplay tweaks which let it stand alone from any of the GTA series.

The story plays out very well, as you try to shoot and kill your way through your past to get back to your family. The game moves through various counties, towns and states and as with Rockstar games, there is a wonderful open-world feel about the game. From ghost-towns, to Mexican villages, to the sprawling snowy mountains, you will be fully immersed in this world and enjoy exploring its dangerous (and sometimes creep) inhabitants...
