      Very helpful

      A third person survival horror game that finally reverts back to the survival aspect!

      Resident Evil has always been a game that I have always loved from the very first one too this one. Resident Evil Revelations is a survival horror video game. The game was published and developed by Capcom and is available PS3, 3DS, PC, Wii U as well as the Xbox 360. Resident Evil Revelations also brings back the survival horror aspect of the game and its not an all out action game now. Finally its back like the good old days of Resident Evil 2 with puzzles as well. This Resident Evil game takes place on The Queen Zenobia which is a cruise ship and a fantastic setting for this type of game. I think its one of the best places a Resident Evil game has taken place. Also this game is set after Resident Evil 4 but before Resident Evil 5.

      === STORY ===
      As stated the game takes place aboard the Queen Zenobia. The two main character you are in this game are Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. Jill and Parker (her teammate) are sent to the Queen Zenobia in search of Chris and his partner Jessica. The story does feature a few flashbacks which you get to play also. Both Chris and Jessica have reportedly gone missing on the Queen Zenobia and their boss has sent out Jill and Parker to find them. During their search they find many B.O.W.s on the ship infected with the T-Abyss virus. They finally enter a room where they think Chris is, only for it to turn out not to be him. Now they must race against time fighting off the B.O.W.s whilst looking for Chris and Jessica.

      === GAMEPLAY ===
      You play as Jill more than Chris in this Resident Evil but the story does revolve around them both. The game is set from a third person perspective with the camera basically coming over the right shoulder of your characters. The game is quite dark so probably better played at night time. There are two different game modes, one being the main story and another being Raid mode which is the same mode they have on every Resident Evil game but under a different name.

      In Raid mode you play with someone online and take on waves of enemies scoring combos and more, trying to get the best possible score and rank. Story mode is the main focus with Resident Evil Revelations as it always is. The game offers quite a few puzzle, scary bits that make you think its back to its best and also includes a lot of backtracking like you did in the older Resident Evil games. The puzzles aren't exactly on the same levels as prev ious games but at least they're back. The game does usually hide something in every corner to give you a bit of a freight.

      Around the Queen Zenobia are new weapons, custom parts for the weapons you find and also other items such as herbs, bullets and key items. Key items are easy to find but bullets can be quite rare. You are also given a new weapon type that doesn't kill enemies but more or less is used in every room you enter. This is used for finding items that cannot be seen by the naked eye. Also use it to find hand prints which lead to achievements and more. There are lots of different enemies but none of which are zombies and I do believe this is the biggest let down as the zombies are what made Resident Evil in my opinion.

      The game does feature bosses and when the bosses come you certainly know about it because they are huge. Some weapons you find include different types of that kind. There are a few different types of shotguns, pistols, machine guns, magnums and more but there are also quite a few different types of grenades which do different effects to your enemies. Another annoying feature is you cant run on the game other than a little jog and this doesn't seem quick enough sometimes and it always leads to me getting hit. You can dodge but you have to time it really well. Overall Resident Evil Revelations doesn't have a lot of variety in its gameplay but it does still entertain.

      The graphics to Resident Evil Revelations isn't the best. In fact it has taken a step back from Resident Evil 6 but its not a major problem at all. The characters look reasonably good and most importantly Chris looks good considering the creators had to make him look younger because the game is set a few years back before his entrance into 6. The ship is fantastically designed and definitely feels like a famous Resident Evil setting such as the cop station on 2 and 3, the village on 4 and of course the mansion on Resident Evil 1. Enemies look pretty good too and overall I would say the graphics are okay. They don't stand out from other bits in the game though.

      The sound effects are a little better but not massively better than the graphics. The music is slightly different from the older music but still has a Resident Evil feel about it. The voice acting is reasonably good as always, enemies sound quite good but not spectacular. The action sound effects is probably the best feature to the sound effects but its quite rare to find yourself in a lot of action in this game. Also about the music is the way it changes when something is happening or just about to happen and it certainly makes things that much more interesting. Overall the sound effects are better but not overly impressive by any means.

      Resident Evil has always been one of those games that require basic commonsense with the puzzles and backtracking. Its not hard at all and in fact the hardest part is probably trying to avoid enemies or not get hit by them whilst blowing them away with your guns. The controls are simple but the game seriously needed a better run. The game starts off very easy but gets a little more difficult as you get further in the game with harder enemies to defeat or avoid and bigger bosses becoming a slight problem. Raid mode starts off easy but as time starts to run out it does get a little harder.

      The length of the game always tends to disappoints nowadays with the length of the main story. Resident Evil Revelations is no different with the main story being roughly around 10-12 hours. The game does have its replay value but its still not the best in terms of length. Raid mode was put on with it and with this mode I guess it can be seen as reasonable. Raid mode with friends or other online gamers will last a lot longer than the main story. However if you just want to play for the main game then this is probably best avoided because it really is short overall.

      === PROS ===
      *Fantastic story and two of the best playable characters being Chris and Jill.
      *One of the best settings for a game similar to the cop station.
      *Raid mode is fun to play with friends or other online gamers and there are a lot of levels to play too.
      *New weapons, some new characters and new enemies!
      *Lots of backtracking and like the older games with some survival horror and not just action.

      === CONS ===
      *Not the best looking game out there and considering its newer than Resident Evil 6 it doesn't look as good.
      *Not at all that difficult with puzzles making a return but being very simple.
      *There are no zombies. How can this be Resident Evil with no zombies.
      *The game needs more than just one 10 hours story and one multiplayer mode.
      *Not enough action for my liking.

      === FINAL THOUGHT ===
      So Resident Evil Revelations actually made some progress with returning to similarities from the older Resident Evil games and in a way I am glad because that is what made the game so much fun growing up. I for one am a massive fan of Resident Evil 6 though with the all out action mayhem and believe it did add something new. There is a bit of a mix in this one so its actually surprisingly good, just not as good as Resident Evil 6 in my eyes.

      I would definitely recommend Resident Evil Revelations especially if you wasn't a huge fan of Resident Evil 6 because it drifted off track. This game definitely puts the survival horror back in the franchise and hopefully things crack on from here. If you love a good story driven game with a few scares here and there, puzzles and more then this is definitely for you. The game has an age rating of 16+ and probably should be an 18+. Does have quite a lot of blood.

      A good Resident Evil game similar to the older ones but could do with a bit more on it. I would give it a 7/10!
