      A Great Movie Quiz Game

      On The Director's Chair
      =================

If you're anything like me then you love a quiz, most DVD games are good but have a few shortcomings. One of these is there is no buzzers. The other is the luck element, the board game uses dice but here knowledge and fast fingers are rewarded.

Four buzzers are supplied with the game and they're designed very well. They use infra-red not the standard wireless. This is probably to keep costs down and help with battery life. An infra-red receiver on a long wire is plugged into an Xbox USB port. The responsiveness and range of the controllers is very good, we've had no problems so far. You also get four sets of AAA batteries included and I think these should last a while as it's no different to a standard remote.

The game itself is very professional looking and plays very well. They've obviously taken a lot of time making everything slick and it shows. There are two game modes, Party Play and Play Now. Party Play is relatively pointless, it's a never ending game where all player answers are shown as soon as selected. No idea what that has to do with a party.

The normal game has two game lengths, long and short, although the short game doesn't seem much shorter really. The game is split into rounds, each round consists of several puzzles, a puzzle is really a category. There is no online play, which is a shame but not a deal breaker.

After each round a summary is presented and bonus points are added. There are a number of bonus points available for thing like, fastest answer or getting all the answers in a category correct. If you're not so good during a round then you get a consolation bonus too, such as slowest correct answer.

The last round is known as the Final Cut, just like the board game. It's here that you can win the game even if you're quite far behind the leader, this is because if you can get a chain of correct answers the points you get are multiplied up by more each time. In this round all the questions are from movie clips.

If you like collecting Xbox achievements then you'll love this and you're points rivals will hate it as you can rack up loads of achievements very easily. I got over 700 after the first couple of days playing over Christmas. It takes me months to get that many with most other games.

Another advantage of the console game is that you console will keep track of the questions already asked, this cuts down on repeats.

      Conclusion
      ========

For the price we paid £14 the game is certainly very good value, it's kept us entertained all over Christmas and can see it being dragged out a lot when we have friends over. It's better with four players, but is still fun with two. The buzzers make it more entertaining than the board game versions.

      Recommended.

A well put together quiz game that delivers on its promises

Having a wife who is competitive and loves movies I decided about a year ago to invest in Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action for the Xbox 360 as I knew she would love it and it would give us a chance to do something together that would be a laugh but that she also could play with mates if she ever wanted to. The game is simple in its format with the idea being that it is set up with a number of different rounds offering you the chance to test your movie trivia knowledge out to score points and beat those you take on with 4 controllers included to make the game as easy to play as possible so that even non gamers would be able to take to this with no problems whatsoever.

      Positives:
The game is very well laid out and simple to play meaning that you don't need to learn how to play but rather just pick up your controller and off you go so that anybody at all can join in and so this is perfect for the likes of Xmas, birthdays, nights with mates or even just to chill with the missus.
The graphics on the game are good and deliver an excellent presentation to the game which is exactly what I had hoped for and was thankfully provided so no complaints there whatsoever.
4 controllers included make the game easy, quick and comfortable to play not to mention cheaper than it could have been as purchasing a controller for each player could add up so this also proves it to be great value for money.
A great variety of rounds on offer with over 20 in the game making it so that you never get bored and thankfully this same level of depth has remained throughout with over 1800 questions there for you to answer.
The game also saves information so that you don't find the same questions coming up each time you play therefore it is not repetitive.

      Negatives:
The game offers bonus points for rounds with some being for excellence but some being for non performance which means that it can be frustrating for the better player when someone who is obviously worse with the knowledge can still challenge them so closely.

Overall a great game and one I recommend you to have (not least incase the family visit).

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

If you like films and quizzes this is great!!!

My girlfriend and I, along with our friends regularly attend a local pub quiz and really enjoy doing so. Ok we might not be the best team when it comes to answering the questions but we do ok. It doesn't help that the pub is mainly full of people from an older generation and the quiz is normally set to cater for their knowledge set rather than our rather younger one but we don't mind too much and we never disgrace ourselves with terrible scores.

Last year during the boot fair season I managed to pick up a playstation 2 along with Buzz and four wired buzzers for very little money. My girl friend and I have played it a fair few times but the wired controllers are not quite long enough to reach comfortably to where we sit and the cables are starting to show signs of damage which is a nuisance.

Recently I got hold of an Xbox 360 and decide to get myself a copy of Scene It having played the board version with friends on New Years Eve and thoroughly enjoying it.

I looked in the high street and found Scene It: Lights Camera Action selling for about £25. I decided to look in my local CEX shop and found it there for a mere £10 including controllers! Naturally I decided this was a bargain and off I went.

When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the controllers, which I had assumed would be wired versions being so cheap, and being able to see a lot of wire in the bag the controllers were stuffed into, were in actual fact wirless (infra-red) and the wire belonged to an infra-red receiver which plugs into a USB socket on the back of the 360.

Each of the four controllers is about four inches long with a big round coloured button on the top and four smaller buttons down the narrower section which fits nicely in your hand, the back of each controller corresponds to the coloured button on the top, the colours are utilised in the game so you know who is who.

Each controller takes a pair of AA batteries so if you intend to use all of them you might find yourself buying batteries...

Onto the game itself. Inserting the disc in the 360, I had the option to run the game or install it to the hard drive. I decide to just run the game, my girlfriend and I grabbed a controller each and off we went. (I have since discovered that there's not really much point in installing to the hard drive as you still need the disk in the drive to be able to play the game!)

Controlling the game, selecting the various options is simple as the menus are well thought out and the controls are simply a case of moving the selector up and down and selecting, all done via the buttons on the controllers.

We were given the option of playing a short quiz or a longer one, for our first go we opted for the short quiz which we were told would last approximately 10 minutes or so.

We had to select an avatar to represent us in the game, the selection is a tad limited but that's not really a problem as it as very little baring on the game. Personally I would have liked to see your Xbox Live avatar used but I think this game might have come out before Avatars were available on xbox Live (Not having had a 360 for long I'm not sure on this point, am I right?)

During the quiz there are various different rounds which gives a good amount of variety to the quiz, and even on subsequent plays when we have gone for the longer quiz option, we've not gotten even remotely bored (no pun intended)

The rounds vary from guessing films from their posters as various elements of the poster are gradually revealed, guessing films and actors from clues which are given one at a time. Observation rounds based on clips of films etc etc. The nature of each round is explained at the start so you are never left guessing as to what you need to do.

There is also a nice variety of rounds where you need to buzz in first to gain control and get first chance to answer, and rounds where you all select an answer at the same time so everyone gets an equal chance to score points. With most of the rounds you get more points for quick answers so quick thinking and a fast finger can be helpful.

The range of films that have been referred to in our playing has been very wide from old black and white films through to really modern and up to date (up to when the game was released of course). This great as it gives people of all ages a chance and does not favour any age group really.

Between rounds the scores are totted up so you can see who is leading, also various bonuses are awarded for thigns like fastest answer, most answers in a row correct, and even for slowest answer. This system works well as even the worst players are awarded for some things which helps to keep the scores fairly close and giving players a chance even when they've had a couple of bad rounds.

The graphics are fairly good, nothing really to write home about but perfectly functional and in no way horrid to look at. My only slight criticism is that some of the text is rather small and if viewed on a small television would be hard to read. We tend to have the 360 in our bedroom most of the time and is hooked up to a 22inch flatscreen which is just about ok, any smaller and I think it could be a problem. On our 42inch screen it's fine.

The sound effects are ok too, again nothing particularly special but as you'd expect from a quiz game.

The film clips, stills and audio are all of good quality too.

The controllers work perfectly and all the buttons are nice and responsive and have a nice feel to them. I have to say, the controllers feel really well made, much more so than the older wired Buzz contollers I have for my PS2!

Overall, I would say this is a brilliant game, and if you enjoy films and quizzes, it really couldn't be much better, heartily recommended!!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Don't bother with this game unless you can see past it's short comings... I certainly can't.

Scene it? Lights, Camera, Action is a trivia game - and not a very good one. Despite an abundance of different movie based questions and film clips, I found the game has far too many problems. If you were expecting online play: You were wrong. If you were expecting half decent graphics: You were wrong again. If you were expecting a friendly, funny trivia host.... you're outta luck.

The first issue you'll notice is the host or announcer. Lip syncing here is awful and overall what he says is cheesy and annoying. The game is definitely better off without him - I mean, if they were going to include an announcer, at least have him read out the questions! Instead all of the questions are on screen, and not read out at all.

Graphics wise the characters you play as look shocking and the landscapes/backgrounds look equally uninspired. I know graphics aren't necessarily key in a trivia game, but at least try not to make them look as if each image was ported from the PS1.

The lack of online is another reason why you're not going to want this game, as if poor graphics and boring gameplay weren't enough. Did I mention that despite having may thousands of questions programmed in, the same ones get repeated frequently? I found many questions coming up twice (never in the same playing session), but still - that's one of the core aspects of the gameplay ruined.

If answering question after question is you're idea of fun, go for it. Scene It? LCA is spoiled by questions being repeated, poor graphics and an even worse host. I have to give credit for the sheer number of film clips and associated questions but other than that - this game really isn't worth your attention.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          2/5

Scene It: Lights, Camera, Action is the first release of the series that was created for family entertainment. When I first received this release from an online rental service I was quite excited as myself and my fiancee wanted this game for quite a while. However upon playing the game we had noticed that the trivia and movie clips were of older films and we wasn't enjoying the game all that much. At the same time we also had the second release, which we found to be much better than this, but I guess it would be due to the fact that it was newer.

There are many different types of game types in this edition, and can be played on your own, with another human or against the AI. My favourite trivia games are Sequentials and Movie Clips on this edition as I believe most of the games could be improved.

Overall, I would only recommend this game to those who haven't played the second or third edition of the game as they won't have any knowledge of the other two, so it'll be a good place for anyone to start at.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Better when played every now and again rather than as a daily thing

I think the appeal of this game is that it can be played alone against the computer, with a friend, or with the whole family.

There aren't many family-friendly Xbox 360 games as your stereotypical 360 gamer is a nerdy teenage boy shooting aliens! After the attraction of the Wii however, Xbox seem to have taken a bit of a turn.

This game came out quite a few years ago, though I only purchased it recently.

Me and my boyfriend played it together to begin with. We're both quite competitive and avid film fans, so found this very fun. Basically, you get asked questions about films, and, using the included handheld buzzers, click your answer and hope you've beat everyone else! (You can also use the Xbox controller if you don't want to pay for the buzzers but it's more different to use).

There's lots of different categories and types of questions which add a lot of variation to the game.

I think one of the problems with the game is that if you play it a lot, as much as me and my boyfriend did, then you eventually start learning the answers to the questions so it becomes more of a 'who can click the button first' scenario, and obviously this makes it very silly when you play with other people who've never played before, when you already know ALL the answers. A couple of times we had our friends and family over to play the game, and I think if we hadn't played it so much it would have been very fun, however because we knew a lot of the answers even if we didn't know the film, we easily beat everyone else, which is a shame as it kind of took the fun out of it.

I did find though that the game got updated frequently, and after not playing for 2 weeks, and then having a go again, the questions were different, which I was very surprised about, so that is a bonus and obviously make it better than the board game as you can't refresh the questions on that!

Overall, it's a very fun game but I recommend it's only really brought out at parties or family events, rather than as a daily thing like what me and my boyfriend did!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Brilliant game that will give you hours of gameplay

I think this game is brillaint as you can play it on your own, with the family, or for a party.

The product comes in a big box with the Scene It game itself , four controllers exclusively for this game, and a sensor for the new controllers.

The sensor is connected to the xbox 360 via the USB port and then all you do is put in the game, pick up the controllers and you are away.

The game involves you to answer question based on movies but the questions come in many different categories such as credit roll, quotables, and child's play.

Just to give you an idea of what the game modes are like I will now explain these three:

Credit roll - Credits roll down the screen and the names get easier as they go down. The aim is to guess the name of the movie based on the credits.

Quotables - You will get a beginning of a quote from a movie and you must finish off the quote.

Child's Play - A child's drwaing is shown and you have to guess the movie from the drawing.

The game modes are long play, short play and party:

Long play - Just a longer version of the game with more questions and 1-4 players can play.

Short play - Shorter version of the game with less questions and 1-4 players can play.

Party - This is if you have friends round and are not taking it too seriously because this mode never ends.

Overall the game has enough game modes and is great fun to play because there are just so many movies involved in this game. Another great feature is that once you have played a game once you will never have the same questions ever again because it saves it.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A fantastic game show for the whole family.

Scene It comes with four game show style buzzers and these have four coloured buttons on them as well as a large round button on the top. It is suitable for 1-4 players although if you wanted to play with more people than this then you can put people in teams and get them to take turns. The game is very interactive and there is lots to do within the game.

The game has 20 different rounds in which you must pit your wits against your friends and relatives to try and answer more questions correctly. There are lots of different rounds, some of them are multiple choice, others you must buzz in first and get the correct answer before your opponents. There are over 1,800 questions and there are lots of questions which have music clips or video clips so it's a very interactive game.

I find the game show buzzers to be very easy to use as it's quite self explanatory and it means that older members of the family won't be overwhelmed by technology that they haven't used before and I think that this game is accessible to all ages and all types of people and there should be some questions that most people can answer! The range of questions is fantastic and there are lots of new and old related questions.

I would definitely suggest this game if you are looking for something for the whole family to take part in and there are lots of other Scene It? games available with new ones being released quite regular and this means that you can just purchase the game alone as you will already have the buzzers that you need. The game is just fantastic, a wide range of questions, lots of different styles of rounds & fun for the whole family. For this reason I am rating it 5/5.

Also, just to mention, the game/buzzers come with enough batteries for all four buzzers so that is one less expense. I have played my game for many hours and the batteries are still going strong.

Scene It Lights, Camera, Action is available for the Xbox 360 and is currently being sold by Amazon for £27.26 including free delivery (3-5 days).

A very good game for friends and family

When i previously played on the PS3 with Buzz i was captivated what an amzaing game, so natuarally when Scene it came out on to the X Box 360 i was very excited and went to the shops straight away to purchase it.
Scene it Lights, Camera, Action is a fun interactive game for all the family and friends to play and even if you are feeling alone you get the thrill of playing by yourself. The first time i played the game i found it brilliant you get to do a wide variety of challanges which include Credit Roles where you have to guess which film they are screening, Quoteables where you guess the which film the quote comes from and Childs play where you guess the drawing.
The game itself has hundreds of different movie clips all to captivate the audiance from a wide range of movies that all the family will remember. The game itself comes with a brilliant buzzer which allows a much more entertaining game.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Fun for everyone.

Scene it finally came to the Xbox, I'd been waiting a while for it to be made into a console game.
Having originally played 2 of the board games with the dvds. Harry Potter Scene It? and the original Scene It? dvd board game. They were great fun, for 2 or more people, but for it to finally come to a console, takes the hassle of the board, cards, dice dvd & remote etc.

Now you can sit infront of the TV with your infra-red controller, just by yourself or with up to 3 of your mates.
All you have to do is plug in the infra-red receiver into the USB port on your Xbox 360, set it up infront of the TV so all the controllers are facing it, and your ready to go.

As you can tell from the name, Scene It? is a movie based quiz game, which tests the knowlodge of players movie knowledge. From black and white movies from as early as the 30's/40's, right up to the present day with the biggest blockbusters around.

There are 3 different types of gameplay options; a short game, long game, or party play. The game has over 20 different puzzles, that it'll choose at random, including "Credit Roll", where players have to guess the film from a list of actors & actresses.
"Quoteables" where players have to finish a line from a famous film.
There's so many different puzzles, so you'll never get bored, and the best thing about the game is, that it saves what questions you've seen, so you wont get repeat questions.

The controllers can be held easily in the hand, it consists of a large "buzzer" on the top of the controller, which on certain puzzles will "buzz you in" and enable you to answer a question first etc. Then there are 4 coloured buttons, which match the corresponding answers on screen, A, B, C & D.
The colours are the same as they are on an Xbox 360 Controller, so if you don't have enough money to buy the game with the wireless infra-red controllers, you can always use a bog stand Xbox controller.

Overall Scene It? is one of the best quiz games around at the moment, its fun to play alone or with friends.
Some of the questions for the older films can be quite tricky, especially if your a youngen, but chances are your parents will know the answer, so let them have a bash.

I'd give the game 9/10, its great fun and I havn't got bored of it yet..

Thanks for reading, and happy gaming. :)

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

Fantastic fun filled game with loads of variety.

This, by far, is one of the best Christmas presents I received this year!

Scene it on the x box 360 retails for around £40 but unlike other xbox games, it comes with 4 wireless buzz like controllers so that you can play the game with a group of friends.

The scene it game is a movie based game where you compete against other players by playing small mini-games based around films both old and new. These mini games include watching a clip and answering questions about the film in question, looking at images to guess which film is being portrayed, unscrambling anagrams to find answers as well as identifying credits, sounds from the movie and even props from the movie.

The game is extremely varied and it means that you will not get easily bored because there is very little repetitive nature.

The game can be played with friends but also can be played over xbox live with other people. There is an option to play a long game, which takes around 35 minutes, or a shorter game of around 20 minutes.

Its a really great game for any film lovers and is fantastic for family gatherings and parties.

                Disadvantages

a great family game and loads of fun.

oh my god i love this game. we got ours off ebay for £15 and its by far one of my favourite games so far. it comeas with 4 controlers and has various ways of playing. we play the 2 player version at the moment but cant wait to use all controlers at christmas with the family. there are different levels you need to get through and the first and last levels are the only ones where you dont lose points for a wrong answer (this is where i get most of my points because i just guess. lol) the contraolers are very easy to hold and easy to use. each controler takes 2 AA batteries and they last for ages. there is a large button on each controler for buxxing in and then the 4 coloured buttons for choosing your answer. when played online, the computer saves all of the questions you have been asked so they aren't repeated and also your scores so you can keep track on whos the best. lol. this is a great family game and i would recomend to anyone.

                Ideal xmas idea

A fantastic game for all the family, especially useful at Christmas time or any other family get together!

We purchased this last year as Christmas is a family time for us and there are about 15 of us at my parents house on Boxing Day!

The game is a brilliant interactive quiz show where you have a controller for each team, and you need to select an answer from multiple choice quesitons.

You watch movie clips and then answer simple questions such as 'how many times did the actor say hello'. there are also trvia questions where you need to know or have had to have watched the tv show to know the answer.

Best played in groups to share the knowledge and really is a great laugh. There are 4 or 5 rounds (more in the long mode) and there must be a database of thousands of questions.

We only play this when a group of people are round, but a great buy at £20. A really great idea for a christmas present this year and time to play it also. There are other versions out there which may suit you best, but being a tv/film buff this was for me!

                Disadvantages

                Loadsa fun

We picked this game up cheap as it was pre owned from gamestation in the 2 for £20 deals and it is one of the best deals we have got.
You get the game, four controllers that let you buzz in and select the answers and a wireless reciever for the game.
First up the controllers. these are very receptive they are easy to use and bright and colourful. There is a big button on the top to buzz in and four coloured and lettered buttons to select your answers. All in all these are great and should be compatible with the next Scene It game when it comes out shortly.
Next is the game this is a really fun game if you enjoy movies. I love movies but mostly of a certain sort either comedy or romance so I am limited in the sections but the questions tend to be on the easier side and some are observation based.
This is not a great graphical game but the movie clips and various cartoony sections are great and it is fast paced and best of all fun.
The narrator can get annoying fast but other than that this is a great game well worth a play.
Another good thing is that they save the questions you have seen so you are not seeing the same questions all of the time.
It also has a single player game that pits you against the computer if you have no one about to play with.

generally a good game and at a very reasonable price

A great fun filled family game which is great for playing when you've got loads of people round - a good party game!!!.
Includes a variety of different modes in which you have to buzz and guess the film, actor, or actress, etc. It also remembers what clips you've seen to make it different every time you play. Suitable for everyone no matter how knowledgeable you are about films - includes old classics and modern favourites such as shrek, titanic, some like it hot, etc.

Easy to pick up and play and great fun when playing with friends or even in teams - can even lead to strong competition over who reall knows the most about films.
A great, fun game that is worth buying and is a good price as it comes with the buzzers. Fun for everyone!

It is not even expensive and can be bought for £39.99 from most retailers with the buzzers.
Although you can probably get it cheaper from ebay. or other similar places.
