... offering an innovative fight system combinh weapons and magic there isn't really an evident storyline with one group of guerillas fighting a government agency. i feel that if there had been a storymode that I would have enjoyed this game more. Most achievements are online and require 100s of kills and thousands of games played which gets very repetitive. As mentioned earlier other gamers are usually not too helpful when playing . Despite being one of the first games for Windows live and being able to fight players off ...more

Premium Review Shadowrun (Xbox 360): Band on the (Shadow)Run (1503 words)
by - written on 05/12/07 (Very useful, 91 readings)
Rating:

In the summer of 2007 a game was released that would both push the boundaries of cross platform gaming as well as suffer from a number of old style limitations. This game was called 'Shadowrun' and it was the first game released that would allow 360 owners to play their PC counterparts in the same game space. Could the console and PC markets finally join together in harmony or are the tastes too different to work? The recent closure of FASA Studios, the makers of the game, suggests the experiment was a failure, but I am here to say otherwise as imo 'Shadowrun' was the best online shooter that the 360 has had so far. Gameplay The most ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shadowrun - worth it? (176 words)
by - written on 17/03/08 (Useful, 48 readings)
Rating:

The name "Shadowrun" can be traced back to the 1980's as a tabletop RPG, and in the early nineties as a SNES platform game. Shadowrun for the Xbox 360 however, has no such affiliation. The game is purely a first person shooter, with only a minor hint to any kind of backstory in the tutorials. That said, as a shooter, it is utterly fantastic. It takes the crucial elements of magic, advanced technology, and modern weaponry that makes the Shadowrun name what it is. One of it's taglines is "The rules of engagement have changed". Too right. With the likes of your Halo series, your Call of Duty's, which are excellent in their own right, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shadowrun (Xbox 360): Shadowrun that became nothing more then a shadow. (397 words)
by - written on 26/06/08 (Very useful, 62 readings)
Rating:

Shadowrun started its life in 1989 as a role-playing game which involved pen and paper and a handful of dice. The scene is set in the future, where massive corporations now dictate the live of those who work for them and return of magic has suddenly caused imbalance to the world and many humans have now reverted to there natural forms, orks, elves, trolls and even dwarves. The game met some success and a fan base was born. From this storyline the game, created in 2007 doesnt waver much. The Xbox360/Vista game is of course set in the shadowrun universe however is not a role playing game but infact a first person shooter, which unfortuantly some fans were not ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Run (175 words)
by - written on 23/08/08 (Very useful, 9 readings)
Rating:

Shadowrun is an online first person Shooter for the Microsoft Xbox 360 games console. There is no single player to this game apart from a few training missions to get you up to speed on the basics of the game. So do not buy this if you don't have access to the Internet. The shooting is quite fun as you use it in combination with magical powers and abilities which enhance the game considerably, the abilities and powers you get depends on what you choose and the start. The game is quite interesting as before every round you can pick your weapons just like the game counterstrike on the computer. After a while this game will ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shadowrun (Xbox 360): Competive gamers POV of Shadowrun (385 words)
by - written on 04/07/09 (Useful, 1 readings)
Rating:

Iv played alot of competitive fps games in the past, tournament games and this game is up there with the big boys. Its like counter strike come role play. Ok sounds a bit weird, i think elfs and magic would turn most people away and even me at first but iv not played a fps with this much scope to it ever. Like cs you have a buy menu each round were you have options to choose weapons, equipment or magic with in a budget which like cs the more kills you got in the previous round, how well your team did etc governs how much you have to spend the following round. So from the off its not just pick which guns are the best and get armor its so much more. You have so ...  Read the complete review
