Super Street Fighter 4: a controversial release considering it came a year after the previous game. Yet this is a bargain and has a wealth of new content.
Each character gets an additional ultra move, adding an extra layer of strategy as their ultra must be chosen at the start of the match, similar to choosing Super Arts in Street Fighter 3: Third Strike. There's also balance changes, making some moves stronger or weaker in different situations, helping to make this version very tightly balanced compared to other fighting games. Fans will always complain about the details, but no one character is overpowered.
SSFIV has an expanded cast, adding ten fighters to the mix including two brand new characters. These two (Hakan and Juri) are fun and novel to play as, but they don't really stand a chance against most of the roster. Also, the whole cast is available from the get go, a huge improvement over the unlocking system in the original SFIV. No need to beat the cheap annoying boss over and over in arcade mode.
Training and trials modes have been improved as you can skip ahead now if you're stuck on a particular combo!
Online play is where the action is, and for the most part the game is great. There are always people to play against and it's possible to find opponents of your own level or challenge yourself to a struggle. Be warned: there are some monsters out there. Loading times are minimal and only rarely to you find a match with a bad connection, making it unplayable.
Word to the wise: don't try to play this game with a standard pad. You need a decent d-pad and six face buttons, so try a madcatz fight pad or maybe a stick if you can afford it.
Whether or not you own the original SFIV, if you're new to fighting games or a lapsed veteran, this is a deep and accessible way to get back into the scene.
Ah Super Street fighter IV. I have had so much fun with this game and I've heard so many people complain that it should have been DLC instead of a seperate game however, I don't see why because it's a budget game and only costs £22.70.
The game brings many old characters from old classics like Street Fighter Alpha and such, as well as new characters such as Juri. The game engine has been tweeked and some of the characters nefed.
Furthermore the game adds new Ultra Combos for every character allowing you to choose how you would like to finish off your oponent, it's such a fun game and i highly reccomend it. The online play is well re-designed, you can now enter and endless battle mode which can take up to 8 people in a winner stays on situation, the player that looses goes to the bottom of the list but instead of looking a boaring screen, you are abel to watch the game in progess and talk to your friends about it.
The game is not without its flaws however, I have had many laggy matches and fought against so many Sagat players It's unreal and can make you wanna rage quit so so so bad but you gotta stick in there, in addition to new characters and combo's, there are excellent new stages and music (I really enjoy labratory X)
So all in all i reccomend buying this game, it really stands out above the rest in quality of fighting games, with a huge fan base and community, you can have so much fun with it, and for the price... it's a must buy
