Advantages: Good range of cars, Good graphics

Disadvantages: Poor physics, Repetitive

Test Drive Unlimited was supposed to be a revolutionary new spin on driving games by introducing free roaming; it ends up just becoming a chore.

The game is set on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, with all the roads supposedly being taken from GPS images making it accurate to real life.

You start of by choosing what your character will look like, but I don't really get the point of this as you can not get out of your car and so the only benefit is seeing your head through the windows. Once past this section you're free to explore the island.

TDU has over 125 cars and motorbikes licensed, each one you buy from the particular marquees dealers, which are situated all over the island - for example if you want an Aston martin, you need to go to the Aston martin dealer and purchase one from there. All cars have their interiors modelled to be as they are in real life which is a very nice touch.

The aim of the game is to drive around, completing races and buying new cars - it quickly becomes repetitive.

The driving physics are not realistic at all, and the cars do not behave at all how they would in real life - this is a major problem.

The game is redeemed slightly by its multiplayer - you can join up to 7 other people online and basically 'cruise' the island, which is more fun than it sounds, or compete in races.

Overall it's a good game, with good graphics and a good range of cars, but its repetitive game play and poor physics make me give it 2 out of 5 stars

Summary: Fun, but it wont be long until you're doing the same things over and over.
