is it dark in here? or is it just me (The Darkness (Xbox 360))

Advantages: Good story, nice lighting and demon effects, intresting characters

Disadvantages: The core gunplay lets the rest of the game down

I ended up downloading a demo of the darkness from Xbox live marketplace when I was bored with the selection of games i owned at the time, it looked relitively intresting and hey, the demo costs nothing!
I was suprised to find that within this demo was a clever and amusing game, giving you a glimpse of what lies within... so feeling rather impressed with what id played i went out and purchased it. I was in for an even bigger shock to find that the full game was a thousand times better than the demo and not just a one trick pony that i assumed it may be.
The plot of the game puts you in the body of Jackie - a mob member whos double crossed and left for dead, the only thing he can think of is revenge. so hell bent he seeks it, only hes not alone. tagging along with him is "the darkness", evil incarnate whos manifested himself within jackie and whos powers you can utilise to avenge your distroy your foes.
the graphics are more than sutible, with some good light shading and good characted models. the story is also very good, allowing you freedom of movement within the game world while events happen around you. the darkness powers are especially fun, allowing you to wreek more havoc than you could have hoped. however, the game does have its flaws, the shooting mechanics at the heart of this game could be better and the constant trecking back and forth locations (coupled with some extendable loading times) can seem more of a chore than a game should allow. dont let this put your off though, for the bargain prices you can pick it up for now, its definitly worth a look and the story will fill a good chunk of your time up and also keep you suitibly entertained.
