There is only one type of gamer that comes close to being as lonely as the fan of the point and click adventure and that is a fan of the humble platformer. In the days of the Megadrive, Amiga and Super Nintendo you could not move for top quality platforming games. Such iconic heroes as Mario, Sonic and Zool ; ) all have their origins here. Even the Playstation 1 had its fair share of the genre with 'Medievil' and 'Ape Escape' to name two. The 360 seems to lack any light hearted games. Sure, there’s Kameo, but that’s really it. That’s changed when The Simpsons Game hit stores last week. The Simpsons is one of the best cartoons ever made, but that’s never seemed to make a good game for them. Lame boxing sims, mediocre Crazy Taxi rip-offs and terrible skateboarding games starring the family are just to start with-the list doesn’t end. And licensed games aren’t exactly the greatest either, with lame movie tie-ins, mediocre comic book translations and other junk.
