I have always been interested in tiger woods games and im not to sure why. I don't play golf in my own time and i dont really watch golf either but for some reason i really enjoy tiger woods games. Tiger woods 09 is really good game to play. There are may different gameplay modes which you can play on your own or with friends either way it is really fun. As usual you can create your own golfer and play your way through the PGA Tour which great fun. My favorate feature is the new ea sports gamernet mode. Here you can compete and earn points for comleting certain challenges which is really good fun. You can also post challenges for other people to play which is interesting as you can see if players are as good as you. Overall i am very happy with this game and looking forward to the next one.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2009 was released with the expectance of it being better than the previous version. EA made sure that this was the case with this release. The game has been improved in nearly every aspect. The graphics are superb in HD, which makes a big difference to playing the game. The gameplay has been improved vastly from the previous version, as I found the previous version to be quite glitchy, and laggy at times. This has been helped with the introduction of the 3-Click Swing Motion, which gives you much more stability with your shot rather than the true motion swing. With this version I have found that the gameplay is what it should be, as it plays much better than the previous version and makes it far more enjoyable. The Tiger Challenge has been completely revamped from the previous version, and in my opinion is better for it. There are now more challenges, and this adds hours of fun to the game. The game is more challenging with the various weather conditions, and the different speed on the greens. In my opinion this game is the best golf game that has been released by EA Sports thus far. The online mode has also been improved and is much more fun than the previous version. 4/5
I had never picked up a Tiger game before this one, but after watching the Masters competition, I decided it was time!! I saw this for cheap on an internet site so decided to give it a whirl! First of all, this game is fantastic. The main bulk of the game is contained in the 'Career' mode and the 'Tiger Challenge' mode. Career mode, as you would expect, has you creating a golfer and taking him through a career, playing in competitions and earning money to buy near gear and clothes. Tiger Challenge, is a series of 10 blocks of events, each event containing 9 challenges. After you've completed a certain amount of challenges, you get invited to play against a pro with the last pro you face being Tiger himself! The controls in this game are fantastic with two different methods, the shot stick and the 3-click swing. The shot stick consists of you 'rocking' the right analogue stick backwards and then forwards to emulate a real golf swing. This works well as you have a suprising amount of control over the amount of power on your shots (after some practice obviously!). The 3-click swing method consists of a bar where you click once to start a line on the bar moving, click again when the bar reaches the desired power, and then click again when the bar has reached the inital position again (the closer you stop the line to the initial position, the more accurate it'll be!). The graphics aren't anything amazing, but they aren't terrible either and certainly do the job for a gold game. The HUD (Heads Up Display) is not cluttered but manages to fit all the information you could need on it including club type, wind direction, wind speed and much more! The multiplayer aspect of the game is also very good, featuring a LOT of modes - but the main ones you'll probably play are 'Stroke Play' and 'Simultaneous Play'. Stroke Play is basically traditional golf, the player furthest from the hole plays his ball and you watch each others' shots. This can take a while to complete a full round of golf but it feels good to actually see the player you're playing against. Simultaneous Play is where you don't watch your opponents shots and just play through the hole. If you finish the hole before the other player, the camera switches so you can see your opponent finish the hole off which is a nice touch as it gives you something to do whilst you're waiting! While you are playing your hole though, there is a line that comes up on screen showing you the position and flight path of your opponents ball, so you can still keep track of them. The gameplay starts off steady, with minimal wind and low level opponents, but soon builds up to difficult opponents with lots of wind! This makes the game challenging but not too difficult which is a great mix. After every round of golf you play, your stats increase/decrease depending on your performance within that round. You then get an opportunity to replay one of the shots that coach 'Hank Haney' feels you could have played better. If you do well, then your stats increase - if you do poorly, the stats stay the same (so it's a win-win situation!!). This allows you to keep your stats high even if you make a few mistakes which is a good idea, but makes boosting stats a bit too easy! Overall, this is a very complete golf game with a LOT of replay-ability, great swing mechanics, functional graphics and a whole lot of fun! Definitely one to recommend.
First of all if your a golf fan trust me you will love this and if your not read this review and im sure u will love this game. I must admit i cannot stand watching golf on tv i dont play golf and find it boring but when i first played this game i was really suprised. For those of you who dont know who tiger woods is,he is possibly the best golfer ever to pick up a club winning trophies and tounraments where ever he plays so the fact that this is his game give it the credibility that it needs. Let me start with the graphics, the are stunning the scenery the green grass trees and courses are so well done its a pleasure to play this. i played this for hours either by myself or with freinds both are excellent fun. There are many differnt game type that are availble in this game.there are tournament play where you go hole to hole trying to the tounament after each hole depending on how well you have played to can revieve money this can be spent in the pro shop for things like clubs clothes etc. There are many mulitplayer game types that vary from trying to hit targets to hitting the ball as far as you can. This plays on the xbox 360 and i can higly recommend this to anyone who loves golf and to anyone who doesnt. Value for money you can pick this up from £19 pounds onwards depending on where you go i feel this is worth it. I would give this game a 7 out of ten but i feel that people could get bored through repitition even though there are over ten courses and ten players to choose from.
On the whole, the Tiger Woods game series have been pretty good so far. The latest version 09' is no different. The new game has many new features and many changes in the gameplay. The brand new features in '09 is a set of skills. These basically depend on how you play, the better, the higher the skills and vice versa. If higher you're skill levels are, the easier it is to play well. Another new feature is the option to calibrate you're clubs to your own playing style in Club Tuner. For example, if you normally hook the ball, then the club can be set to cancel this out. The final new feature in '09 is the 4 ball online simultaneous Play. This feature allows an online 4 ball to play at the speed of a 1 ball by allowing everyone to hit at the same time. Each player's shot is marked by a coloured ball flight line within the hole. I found that there is a big disadvantage with this, although it can't be helped. Since 18 holes in simultaneous play would take about 30 minutes, and that there is a time limit on how long you can spend on each shot. If the phone goes off etc. thats you lost the match. There are other online types as well though; 9 hole golf, 3 hole mini match, 4 ball 18 holes etc. In terms of career, its a good length, although it gets a bit boring after a while. This is because of the amount of events you need to win to complete the tour side of the game. The Tiger Woods "career" doesn't take nearly as long to complete although it can get quite tricky. To complete this career, you need to win enough events to challenge pros. There are a number of pros that you need to beat, including Tiger Woods at the top of it all. The higher up you get in the career, the harder it becomes. So by the time you are on to Tiger Woods's events. There are challenges like"hit 3 balls within 12 ft (total for all 3) from 100 yards away. Thats 4ft per ball ! The new game also features many new golf courses such as; Seeshan, St Andrew Old Course and more are available for download. In total there are around 10 courses, each made to a very high standard in terms of gameplay and graphics. The final feature of Tiger Woods '09 is EA Sports Gamernet. On this databse, players can store up to 7 of their best drives, closest shots etc. Other players can attempt to beat these records, if they are the first to beat them then double EA Gamernet points are awarded, if not then its normal. You can even trade clips with friends over Live and try to beat there records. The more EA Gamernet points you get, the more trophies you can unlock. So thats it really, I really liked this game and think its well worth buying. Especially for multiplayer (this can be done locally with up to 4 people). Not to mention online through Xbox Live with up to 4 friends.
i bought this game when it first come out and If you've played any of the Tiger Woods PGA games of the last 5 years, then you should feel well at home here. This latest version doesn't mess with the formula too much. But some of the new additions, especially all of the ways Gamernet challenges are woven into the gameplay should appeal to everyone. When i first started playing the analog shot stick is something I had to warm up to, but now I can't imagine playing without it. For traditionalists there is a 3-click system in place, but only in Easy Play and Balanced difficulty levels. But for that real golf experience, you have to use the swing stick. Through visual cues and tight control over the direction you move the stick, you can hit a lot of different shots for different situations. Just like a real golfer would. What i also think is a great addition to the game is that you have the use of Tiger Woods trainer so he will tell you where you are going wrong with your shots and will get you praticing.
After a very tricky and unforgiving '08 instalment the golfing legend returns to the Xbox 360. '09 is an altogether more enjoyable experience; gone is the fact that if you were just a whisker off with your swing you'll find your ball veering away into the trees. This time around although you don't need a degree in physics to hit the ball straight, it's not too easy as to detract from the challenge of the game. The courses are beautifully rendered, especially the Gary Player designed Country Club in South Africa, though the game would have benefited from more courses rather than lining them up as pay per download on Xbox Live. This time around you can 'tune' your clubs to suit your playing style and the challenge of the course. Overall this latest incarnation has brought the fun and relaxation back to this long running and generally superb franchise.
GET IN THE HOLE!!!! A saying you will find yourself shouting at the screen as you aim to overthrow Tiger Woods as the world number 1. No easy feat let me tell you. The Tiger Woods series have always came back bigger and better and this one sticks to that. With a good selection of characters such as Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and yourself if you decide to make yourself, you will always want to pick up and swing away. The game offers you Hank haney as your virtual coach and will give you tips on how to improve your game and cut those bogeys down to size. Soon with his help you will be extremely annoyed if you dont shoot under par for the round. CLUB SELECTION - in the Pro Shop you get a huge selection of clubs inclduing leading brand names such as Nike, Callaway however Titleist are no where to be seen. As you play through the game the new dynamic skills setting, changes your skills to how you play which forces you to become more consistent than ever. Graphics are nothing less than stunning and let you feel as if you were actually at such courses as St Andrews and Pebble Beach. Game modes - wow again, there are so many to choose from, strokeplay, matchplay, speed golf, foursomes, greensomes everything you could ever want. Play online, play alone just make sure you play this game and for £25 you will never go wrong.
I can safely say I was extremely exited in anticipation of the new Tiger Woods 09 to be released by EA Sports. The first thing I believe everybody should do is try out the perfectly crafted Tiger Woods career mode where you can create your own golfer and work your way through the events on the realistic golfing calendar where you can contest for a numerous amount of tournament titles, such as the Majors, where you can compete against the likes of Tiger himself for the US Open Championship. The only aspect that lets this game down is the fact that you must unlock items to personalise your golfer with, rather than pay with your career earnings this kind of dwindles the realism of the game which is created by the other dimensions of the game such as: realistic and well crafted golf swings, beautiful surroundings when playing courses of the likes of Wentworth and Wolf Creek. Overall to start it is an exiting game to play but can become boring unless you have a large amount of time allocated to playing 18holes.
for all you golf fans out there this is a great buy, I have never been dissapointed by any of the tiger woods games and this one keeps that reputation going by being a simply superb game. you start the game by training with tiger woods coach hank haney where you learn the basic (fail non of the shots to gain an achievement) you can then progress onto the PGA tour, there are alot of mini game to be played also and all the equipment on the game such as clubs and bags are all based on the actual merchandise and not just magiced up. there is also a feature called tiger challenge where you must complete challenges to build up points and ultimately defeat tiger himself in match play one on one. the game boast great graphics and is relitavely easy to play it is also very enjoying. however if you are like me and get frustrated very easily this game could cause you a few problems due to the wind and some of the shots that it makes which you don't even direct, all round though a hole in one from EA sports yet again.
The graphics are good and the game play is pretty consistant HOWEVER... some pretty basic faults with the programme.1. The commentry is always late ie. after the ball has stopped on the green Sam Torrance will say "it's on its way" or some other inane comment. (By the way, I love Sam but he has a most boring voice for a comentator).2. Quite often the backgrounds are a mixture of purples and greys.3. The attributes you gain in solo play do not tensfer to on line play. It's as if I'm playing with completly different skills.Other than these I like playing it but would only give a rating of about 80%.
Another great addition to the tiger woods golfing games. This time its Tiger 09 and it is as expected its the best golf game out for the xbox. Fair enough it doesnt have much competition but it is because it is so good theres no room for competitors. I can't tell you the new features because i haven't played the tiger series for a few years (since 2002 i think) but it does have a lot of good features, gameplays and courses. The career is better than ever with the pga tour and tiger challenge to participate in. The pga tour takes you through a string of events throughout a year on the pga and is very realistic. With the traditional tiger challenge you do a variety of different challenges to finally get to play the great man himself. This game is also good to play online the stroke simulatainous system that it uses is awesomes, saves so much time as you don't need to watch your opponents play their shots which is so frustrating, especially when it is a fourball. Can take forever. The gameplay is therefore really fast and there is hardly any lag. I would recommend this game to any lovers of the game of golf, it has everything that a golf game needs and is very enjoyable with fun gameplay and always lots to do to be the best, there are too many features to list, it is worth getting this game to explore the features. If you are a golf fan i guarantee you will enjoy it. The game is made by EA sports and retails around £39.99 but if you shop around you will find it for £29.99 at the most!
Tiger Woods PGA is the newest addition to the Tiger Woods series. This version has brought along new features and new courses, set to challenge you in the most difficult of terrains. The graphics have improved, but the game play has remained the same, keeping it simple so that anyone can play, the only real skill involved is when you start getting a little serious. I've played this game a lot of times with the mates over, it really is a good laugh and can be addictive, if not time consuming. The online competitions are also a good laugh and the leader boards are always a challenge. The game involves using your thumb sticks to navigate where the ball is to be hit; you swing in a smooth up/down motion and then chose the power of delivery. If all goes well, you might get a birdie! As the game is rather new, it's still retailing at a high price. If you liked the previous games, you're sure going to love this one!
