      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Excellent gameplay, Very addictive game.

Another classic xbox first person shooter. Set in the bright lights of Vegas, this is a great game and one you should have in your collection, if not completed already.

Gameplay is fast and frantic at times and adds to the realism
within the environment you're placed in. It's most definitely not your usual shooter genre, as tactics play a massive part in this game. You are in command of a couple of additional squad members. You need to use the wisely, either to protect you or to go into rooms first! You must think logically in order to get the best from them. The most useful part is commanding your team to breach a room whilst you blaze in through an alternative entrance.

Overall, the AI works reall well with your squad and you'll often find them running for cover when under attack! Should they be very foolish, they can go down, but are able to revive each other should you be busy sorting out the goons they got tagged by!

The graphics are distinctly average, being built on the most solid gfx engine of unreal. The lighting provided a number of issues with me, and it took a while to get it set comfortably, but at least it was possible.

A great feature is the night vision / heat vision modes which are invaluable and excellently implemented. It works really well through the game as you'll need to use them a few times throughout.

The online modes are good. Tons of options and free dlc maps, but i did struggle to get online to any servers that were populated enough to play a full game, so can't really comment on that side of things.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Amazing and fun game which really makes you feel you in the battle yourself

TC Rainbow Six Vegas has taken the series into the streets and casinos of Las Vegas. The plot is pretty basic with you jumping from one mission to another to track down a terrorist.

You lead a 3 man team through the enemy packed levels of the game. This is not a traditional fps but goes more along the lines of a tactical shooter. Careful planning has to be done to clear each room and complete each objectives. Go stealthily into a room with a flashbang, silenced weapons and under the door tagging or go guns blazing with grenades and C4 charges. Probably the best gameplay element seen in the game is rappling down a rope the side of a building head first with a sidearm as you suprise attack from the window while you command your team to attack from the opposite door.

The graphics are very good both of the caracter models and levels. The game score changes according to the situation which helps enrich the gaming experience. There is a good variety of weapons and each vary when used. The AI is amazing with them reacting according to how you play. Your team mates will follow your orders wether to stay back or attack. The campaign is of a good length with a great multiplayer component to it. Special praise should be given to the terrorist mode in the multiplayer

This is a fantastic game and should definetely not be missed especially if your a fan of military

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Very good game but it gets repetitive and dull until the twist at the end of the game

Rainbow Six: Vegas is a great tactical shooter which brings tactical thinking into the game. The campaign sees you fight in an elite military team working together to prevent a terrorist siege in a las vegas. You work against the clock to complete objectives to ensure the safety of the city.

The graphics of the game are nothing special which does let the game down, however the gameplay makes up for this and then some. Throughout the game you have the ability to control your team-mates, whether that be to revive an injured member or telling them to advance or retreat etc. The cover system in the game is well thought out and works effectively however be sure to keep moving or you will be killed. The game is quite difficult to complete even in the easier modes so it does represent a decent challenge. The ability to use night vision and thermal vision greatly enhances the realism of the game which manages to keep you on the edge of your seat whilst playing the darker sections. The technology at your disposal is a great advantage in the game and if used properly allows you to go through the game with an extra advantage over the terrorists. All the weapons in the game have their own advantages which brings a certain realism to the game. The range of grenades prove extremely useful in different situations so it is wise to be tactically think about which ones you should select. In all it is a good game and is a good buy for anyone who likes good shooter however for the non hardcore fans of the genre i would advise renting it before you buy as it doesn't quite tick all the boxes in my opinion.

A brilliant game that should be played by all!

This is an amazing game that i can just never get enough of.

I have completed this game about 10 times now on both difficulty settings and it just never gets boring. The gameplay is just amazingly exciting and changes every time you play through the game. This gives the game good variety and i view this as a key feature in any game.

The ability to play 2 PLayer Co-op mode gives this game the extra edge over most. You cannot play multiplayer vs mode locally however, if you connect to Xbox LIve there is a wide range of games that can be played on this game.

There is a wide variety of weapons featured in this game and being able to carry 2 primary weapons and 1 secondary means that you can always have a close quarters weapon and also a long range weapon. Once again giving the game a great amount of variety.

There is a wide range of scopes and adaptions for all of the weapons and the availability of night vision and Thermal goggles allows you to see through smoke and dark with ease.

This game is soo well made and just can't be beaten on graphics. This game feels so realistic when you are playing it! The tactics used within the gamne and being able to command your small group gives you the feeling of what it is really like and makes the game feel much more interesting.

A great game that i recommend everyone should play.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A classic game that everyone should own because Tom Clancy is a brilliant.

The Tom Clancy Games are always games to be excited about in my opinion. They always try and provide a realistic experience of a soldier etc. In this FPS you are one in a team of three special operations agents.

You have complete control over your other team members, weapons and accessories, clothing, armour and status. You can point anywhere and order your tem to move there to try and flank the enemy for example, so it makes you think tactically. You can even tell them to move to a door and enter in a certain way depending on where the enemy is in the room etc..

You can choose from a lot of weapons including all the classics e.g. rifles, shotguns, and several types of machine guns and pistols. Then you can choose what to add, these include different scopes, laser pointers etc. You can have 2 types of grenade but your team members may have different types which is good for different room entry tactics.

While playing you can put your team in one of two modes, infiltrate or assault. Infiltrate is where they only fire if fired apon so you could sneak into position first, Assault is where they shoot anyone the see which is good for a quick clearance. Depending on the mode your team has different weapons and tactics.

The levels look really good and have lots of objects to take cover behind and lots of approaches to a situation. Although the game play is all basically cover and shoot it doesn't get boring because you can be inventive with your strategies. I recommend this game to FPS lovers as it is a classic. I liked this better than the first although that was also very good but you don't need to have played it to play this one (although you should).

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Great game which will not dissappoint.

This tactical team-based shooter arrived on the Xbox 360 amidst high expectations. The Tom Clancy series of video games has a reputation of high quality, and it was the through Rainbow Six titles that the authors books were first developed as games. This first entry for the series onto the current generation of consoles was then expected to deliver the same sharp tactical gameplay of its predecessors, in the new and ambitious setting of Las Vegas.

The game gets off to a very different start than what fans of the series may be used to, with the player cut off from the rest of his team fairly early on, left with only a pistol to defend himself. He soon regains contact with his squad however, and this is where the gameplay really flourishes.

The execution of the squad commands as well as the actual shooting itself is top notch, and with multiple difficulty levels the game will certainly provide a challenge for newcomers and old pros alike.

The online multiplayer mode is certainly a notable addition, and the team based, tactial flavour of the action provides a welcome alternative after all those hours of Halo.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Even though its old now what a good game.

Recently I decided to buy a xbox 360. Yes I know that I'm very slow in getting one. I bought the 60gb xbox as I didn't want to spend about £50 more for the elite console and I thought the arcade console wasn't that good.

After I bought the xbox I had the tricky decsion of what games to buy for it. I decided to buy a blend of classic 360 games and new upcoming games. I bought the usual suspects, Halo 3, Fifa, gears of war etc. But I also decided to buy Tom clancys Rainbow six vegas as I had heard some good things about it. I have to say though that what I heard didn't justify just how good this game is.

At the time I think I bought it from gamestation, I can't remember how much though but I seem to remeber to think that it wasn't much as the game is quite old now.

      Game modes

Rainbow six vegas had a very good single player mode. The first mission is not in vegas it looks to be somewhere in the middle east but after this you get to work in Las Vegas. In las vegas you do a number of missions in casinos and on the streets or even one of the missions I've completed started off on top of a chinese restaurant. I have single player mode between about 4-6 hours already and think there is alot more to come. So far though I have to say that Rainbow six's single player campaign is amazing.

Multiplayer or online mode is excellent on Rainbow six. You can play up to 15 people in the heart of Las vegas. The graphics for online are I think as good as offline mode. Another nice thing is that you can play with up to 3 friends and co-op through all the missions. This especially is fun to do, trying to kill the enemy together and if one of your mates is dying trying to keep him alive.

      Cool things.

Rainbow six has a number of cool techniques that you can learn to enhance the way you fight and the way you try and take a enemy possesion. Recon techniques include things such as fast roping, rappeling, window entry, blind cover fire and more. To do all these takes little time to learn as the game guides you by telling you what buttons to push but it is worth before storming into a room that you use a little gadget called a snake cam. This is where you look under a door and see if any enemies are on the other side. To do snake cam look at bottom of the door and push the a button.

This game is rated a 16+ due to the violence and the use of some bad language.

      Graphics

The games Graphics are excellent. For a oldish game now the graphics look just as good as one of the new games. I especially like when you complete a mission and you are picked up by a helicopter and you fly over vegas. Vegas is lit up and you recognize some of the casinos and buildings.
The graphics are also very good when you are inside a casino and all the slot machines and blackjack tables are there. The slot machines are all lit up.
The graphics in Rainbow six I give a 9 out of ten.

      Sound

The game has some amazing sound as well. I especially like some of the guns you can shoot. The desert eagle I like especially because if you have the sound up on the tele and you shoot the gun. It sounds like the gun is in the room. Its that good and that authentic.

Throughtout the game you come across different guns that you can use and pick up. You find what guns are good and what guns aren't so good. You can have with you two big guns and one pistol. I suggest that for the two guns you have some sort of sniper and some sort of gun that fires rapidly like an assualt rifle. Sniper as you made need to zoom in far to shoot a foe.

      Overall

I think Rainbow six is a very good game, can't wait to buy rainbow six vegas 2.

Thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed my reading.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

The best game I have ever played

It took me a long time to finally buy my Xbox 360, but when I did, I also bought Rainbow Six Vegas. I knew nothing about it, and judged from the cover that it would be a good game.

This game is the best and most satisfying that I have played, knocking GTA IV, FIFA 09 and Call of Duty off the top spot. Obviously, as a massive fan of first-person shooters this was always going to be excellent, but I think this could change a few people's minds.

Firstly, gameplay is awesome, very smooth with excellent graphics. Being able to direct your team of two adds another level to your tactics - if they die it's game over. I find your team-mates often stand in ridiculous places unless you keep ordering them - causes much annoyance, but makes the game difficult.

The shooting modes are excellent, being able to cover behind almost anything, but also being able to choose between infiltrate and assault gives you more options to run in guns blazing or take the sneakier option! I think I speak for most people when I say sometimes I just want to run in and give myself a challenge - usually ending with me being killed instantly...

I finished the game on normal mode, a challenge - but more to the point, thoroughly enjoyable, and I am now tackling the hard setting. There is a noticeable difference, I have lost count of the number of times I have died! This more realistic option gives the game great value for money.

In the meantime, I will continue my attempts to complete hard mode, and search for a game that comes close to this one.

      Action to the max!!

Having played Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell on the PS2 some time ago (see my previous review) I was not expecting too much from this Xbox 360 title.

My earlier experience was of a repetitive game which had a hard difficulty level which left me less than satified. As this game was in the same franchise I expected to be underwhelmed. I was wrong.

This time the game obviously has a lot more processing power behind it. That doesn't mean it has to be much better but this sure is!!

The plot revolves around Las Vegas being taken over by a well organised terrorist group and held hostage..With the threat of the Hoover Dam being released into the desert city your squad must move quickly! You play Logan, commander of the team, and armed to the teeth with modern technology you're flown into the action........

The game uses the Unreal Tournament engine and this makes for a great game. The visual aspect of a pitched gun battle becomes terrifyingly real (I'd imagine!). Smoke clears slowly after a grenade explosion...your vision is blurred for a few seconds after taking a hit or being around as a flashbang goes off......

The audio is great.....You really are immersed in the action. Explosions, shots, incoming radio chatter..all combine to form a frantic environment in which to fight for your life!

I also had a quick go on the multiplayer online version but to be honest I felt it was a large step down from the story mode (1 player). The graphics weren't as realistic and just felt me feeling I'd been playing Doom. Lots of running around without much happening until you're suddenly "tapped" by some more experienced player. Where's the fun in that?

So, playing in story mode, I would heartily recommend this to lovers of military shooters.

      8/10.

Bad Guys In Vegas, Who'd Notice?

        Somewhere Over The Rainbow
        =========================

Rainbow Six Vegas is a continuation of the Tom Clancy franchise that I first remember playing on the original PlayStation. Since then I haven't played a Rainbow Six game until now. Being a fan of shooters and especially tactical shooters this game is right up my alley.

Tom Clancy is a bit of a hero to me, I love his films and his games. His name has been put on some of the best games of recent years, including Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, both games I love.

So how does this first outing of the Rainbows fare on the next generation consoles. This is something of a classic on the Xbox 360 now, but being a bit of a latecomer I decided to give it a try.

Tom Clancy games generally have excellent stories and play very well, with lots of twists and turns. This is no exception. To sum up, terrorists have taken up root in a Vegas hotel.

The game starts not in Vegas but in Mexico, at first it appears to be just a Ghost Recon clone but you're not in Mexico for long and the huge hotels and casinos of Vegas come into view. Here you are thrown in a the deep end, terrorists everywhere.

There are two difficulty settings, I have played on normal and even then found some parts to be very difficult. One flaw in the games is the location of save points, you can battle for ages and manage it to turn a corner and be shot in the head, back to do it all again. This can become frustrating.

The game plays beautifully, the lighting effects are particularly excellent and on the whole the games graphics are very good, not up with the best the 360 offers now but still very impressive. Almost everything in the environment can be shot and will be damaged or destroyed. The actual casino's have lights flashing all over, just like the real thing. This adds a lot to the fun and realism of the game. Having said that this is the only game that has ever frozen my Xbox, I had to reboot. it only happened once so I'll let them off with that.

The controls take a little time to get used to but after a while become second nature. The cover system is very good. Use the left trigger to go into cover mode and they view changes to third person, the you can use the right stick to pop your head around or over walls or objects. This is similar to other Tom Clancy games such as Ghost Recon.

You have two men with you who you can order around, they are quite good at looking after
themselves but can still get into trouble and you have to go and heal them or get them to heal each other, assuming their not both wounded at the same time. Strangely, they are not clever enough to heal each other automatically, even if they are right next to each other. You can get them to move to other locations that are in sight and tell them to hold. If used well you can get a good advantage.

This game is definitely not for children, there is a lot of swearing and quite accurate blood effects. This is realistic but you won't want to be playing with children around.

Summing up, I really enjoyed Rainbow Six Vegas, I would recommend it and it's out on the classics now so you can pick it up really cheap. Some people are tired of shooters, but I'm still addicted. Now onto Vegas 2 now to finish the story and kill more terrorists. Having recently been to Vegas it added some extra enjoyment for me too hotel spotting, pleased there were no bad guys there when I was staying!

        Recommended.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Fun, tactical and not as difficult/frustrating as previous Rainbow Six games.

I remember buying the original Rainbow Six for PC when it first came out... I installed it, and was promptly greeted with a big fat error message. It didn't work. Although I managed to get this amazing and revolutionary game installed at a friends house, he never gave me the disc back when I got a new computer (turns out he'd scratched it up beyond recognition). So, from that point onwards I was pretty resentful about the whole series (and my former friend).

What this has to do with Rainbow Six Vegas I do not know - except to note that the first game on the PC was absolutely revolutionary. Before each mission, you could assemble your plan by placing waypoints on a blueprint of the level. You'd start it up leading a squad, and the other squads would busy themselves following your orders.

Now, at the time this feature seemed amazing as it was the first successful combination of real time strategy and first person shooter. It was flawed however - I mean, for a start, you would have to basically restart each level from scratch if you messed up. I found it disappointing the number of times the squad I wasn't controlled managed to get themselves killed, throwing off the whole plan and leading me inevitably to single-handedly clear the rest of the building!

This is why, over the years, this feature has all but gone from the Rainbow Six series. However, it is now even more of a tactical game, as Vegas demonstrates.

Set amongst glitzy hotels and casinos, Vegas is certainly unique in its setting. The graphics are great, with good detail in the environment and on the character models.

As far as Artificial Intelligence goes, Vegas has some of the best yet. Unlike in previous games, your team mates no longer appear to completely lack any sense, and as long as your tactical decisions are sound they're not likely to go and get themselves shot. Further to this, all of your team including yourself can regenerate health, which saves you from the awful situation where you get through a really difficult part of the level only to be left with hardly any health, making any further progress practically impossible.

Vegas introduces a funky new tool into the series - the Snake Cam can be shoved under doors, and affords you a preview of what's to come. This is super-handy in hostage situations, and you can even tag enemies to be shot at first by your team mates. This adds an extra tactical element to the game, and the sense of preparation makes bursting into a room full of baddies even more exciting than it is normally.

My one real complaint here is that although the Vegas setting is great, the appeal soon wears thin a little. I would rather the game had a larger variety of settings. If they all looked as good as Vegas does too, that'd be great!

Overall Rainbow Six Vegas is a great game that indicates the series progressing nicely. I've not played the sequel yet but I hope it's as good as this!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

really online good as a single player due to the lack of people playing online

For quite a while this game was the staple of mine and my friends online gaming diet, it is a great first person shooter and at the time of playing it i beleved it even rivaled the ledgendary goldeneye for multiplayer

          Game Play-
The game starts in mexico as you persue a terrorist cell, this leads you to a beseiged vegas were the remainder of the game takes place, you move from casino to casio and through the streets to occomplish your misson. It would seem on he surface that the game would get samey but it doesnt as it really takes advantage of the various 'themed' casinos in vega making each one different

          Graphics-
at the time of release the graphics were the best i had seen. now though after playing CALL OF DUTY and other newer games the graphics seem a little blocky and lack in realistic shine on the guns etc, also the noises and flashing lights of the casinos various gambeling machines are enough to make you stop in a hypnotised stare until a helpful terrorist/opponent shoots you out of your trance,

          Online-
The online works in the same way as many 1st person shoots, with the nice addition of a 3rd person view in certain situations eg, peeping around a wall and rappeling through windows. It includes several game mode, the most outstanding being capture the briefcase in which your team must transport a case to an extraction whilst the other team trys to stop you.
the problem with this is that last timei attempted online play there were very few people actually playing so you may struggle to get an online match

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

Good shoot em up, but not the best on the market, but definately worth the play

This is a good challenging game. You have the ability of controlling your troops. It is a very tactical game to play with lots of sneaking around to do. The graphics on this particular game are pretty good but not amazing. Although you have too much to do on this game to have any time to sit and admire the graphics this offers. Its very stratigic and tactical as timing can be crusial in this game. Although i did find this game quite easy i have know some people to struggle with certain levels. So this may be a good challenge for you.
The online aspect of this game allows you up to three other players. So this allows for more intense action throughout. There are a fair few weapons you get to choose from within the game but you can not enhance your own character. This is not as good as some of the other shooter games available but it's not the worst.

A truly worthy succsessor to Clancys long running series.

Having been an avid fan or the series for many years, from the original rainbow six game on the PC/Playstation up to the excellent remake of the same name for the big green beast that was the X-Box. (Notice i omit Black Arrow coz it was pants) I have also been a Tom Clancy nut since I could read properly and I have to say RSV surpassed itself in almost every minute detail.

But i`m not going to review the good stuff, ohhhhhhhh no. Everybody else has done that.
I, the demoraliser of great games, who stands for all the tiny little details overlooked (geek!) Will tell you of the stuff this game sorely misses.
To start, new characatures? Just when a wider audience were starting to warm to Ding, Eddie, Deiter and Loiss. The guys that hadn`t played from the beggining or those that haven`t read Clancys Rainbow Six (which by the way is an AWESOME book). Why not add to the already good cast, some of the other operators from past generations and said novel?
What about big Oso Vega? the huge M60 wielding gunner. Or Paddy Connelly, the explosives man and Homer Johnston, the other half of Deiter`s deadly sniper pairing? (sorry people, for those who have not read the book it may sound like a tirading rant by some one who took the series a bit too seriously!)
Not that these omissions mar the actual game in any way, but (and I hope i`m not alone) for the real enthusiasts was a little like taking a riquoche. Not life treatening but didn`t really make your day either.
Next, just a flesh wound really, and RSV battles through with bravery and honour.
            WHERE WERE ALL THE GUNS!
And when will someone PLEEEEASE get the ballistics right?! I know from first hand experience the damage bullets do to bodies. 7.62 rounds smash and break bone easily penetrating kevlar body armour, 5.56s tumble in a body, creating multiple wounds and 9mm rounds go straight through targets making for very clean kills. Why is it that all rounds in the game have almost the same performance? I`m not saying limbs should fly off or heads should explode (although that would be cool!) Just that a slightly higher level of realism would have been nice.
The hardware selection wasn`t all bad. The SMGs were all there (I liked the way they could all be moderated/silenced) and two or three of the assualt rifles passed muster. But you see RSV is a connisours game. People who play, KNOW warfare. And these guys are meant to be the elite of the elite. These kind of guys have access to all manner of technical weapons systems, trust me.
And not just the spangly new rifles, what of the old favourites? The afforementioned M60, the "barking dog" (G3A3 rifle, a 7.62 monster that leaves fist sized holes in bodies?) Or the M4/M203 grenade launcher combo, a magnifiicent weapon that almost all NATO and US SF operatives have adopted. Not to mention the HUGE Barrett 50cal whose massive shockwave takes apart and dismembers bodies.
I know some may argue that they have no place in a game based around an urban paramilitary SWAT team, and they would be right. In real life, these weapons don`t work in cramped areas. But all warmongers alike love to use these monsters so why not have them as unlockables? (Another feature many games ignore now)
Which brings me to my final point, and in a way it`s unfair to restrict this to just RSV. Because most games on the 360 have followed the same path.
You battle through the brilliantly designed levels (and they are, brilliant), you fight more heavily armed forces that become more cunning in tactics almost every level. And yet you get nothing back. Yes there`s that great feeling when your squad are defensively positioned waiting for heli extraction, knowing that each member of your team performed impeccably. Using only double-tap head shots to annihilate hoardes of mis-led terrorist shooters.
But when the final credits roll you realise that while it`s been fun, the game never really rewards you for your efforts. There`s only one way to replay the game...the same way, therefore you feel you`ve really achieved nothing and fails to enthuse playing again, and again, untill everything that`s in there is finaly yours. And doesn`t that make the whole experience a bit, well, pointless? J.Hunter

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            Good game.

Rainbow Six Vegas is a first person shooter for the Xbox 360 games console.

In this game you will battle against terrorists who have invaded Vegas, by using your gadgets, guns and of course your squad mates.

The shooting in this game is quite satisfying, the guns are very powerful so you have to be careful has a couple of shots will send you to your grave. They have implemented a cover system so you can press yourself against the walls and objects and shoot around and over them.

Your squad is also a weapon, they will help you out by opening doors, scouting a head, and distracting enemys allowing you to flank and eliminate them.

The game has an excellent online mode, where you can either team up with the other people in cooperative story mode and terrorist hunt or play more traditional death match modes.

This is a good game for shooter fans and can be bought for about 10 to 20 pounds.
