Lara Croft is back in the latest Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider Underworld, does this 90s gaming icon still cut it now?

The games story follows on from Tomb Raider Legend, Lara has found out from her enemy Amanda that her mother is alive and so she must rescue her. To do this she has to do the usual tomb raiding business! Its a pretty entertaining story and has a good conclusion to it.

The gameplay that was completely modernised by Crystal Dynamics is present here and makes platforming far easier than in the original games but sadly a step back has been taken such as when you want to swing to a ledge that is out of sight when you lean back to initiate a jump in Legend the camera will pan so you can see where your going to end up, this is gone. The camera is also a real pain and wants to zoom right into Lara's back which makes the game really frustrating at points.

The game testers also seem to have gotten a little lazy here with Lara getting stuck on objects an awful lot and glitching through things, its not a major problem but it just makes the game feel a little rushed.

The puzzles here are a good mix of easy ones and ones that'll get your brain going, and if its to hard for you Lara has a handy PDA that will give you a pretty big clue so frustration doesn't set in to often. When your not solving puzzles you'll be involved in combat Lara now has a secondary weapon and can do a cool slow motion adrenaline move as well as a range of melee attacks.

This game just feels like it came out of the oven a little too soon, its still pretty enjoyable but if it was completed it would be a classic.

Summary: It just needed a little more developement time.
