The last in the franchise for EA Sports and UEFA Champions League. For some reason, either this game didnt sell or EA didnt want it anymore, but EA didnt renew the license!

Now the question is, why?

Well, this game has the engine of FIFA. The teams of the Champions League, which is the creme de la creme of European teams. The controls remain the same as the FIFA games, and there was no real advancement made from FIFA to Champions League games. Same engine, same controls, same everything really, but the little things that the Champions League brings and offers in the way of stadia, atmosphere and even the themes the TV Programs are full of make the experience feel real.

Games like this seem a lot cleaner and a lot fresher than the FIFA Franchise which seems to get stale in a short amount of time, no matter how much rejuvination goes on.

One new feature that isnt in other games, is the Trading Cards you collect as you play. Im not 100% on how to use these cards, or how they are obtained, but it seems EA might have been trying to incorperate some sort of actual paper Trading Card with Barcodes into the game, much like Viva Pinata has recently.

Champions League license is now with Konami as part of Pro Evo 2009 and onwards for the next three titles. It will be interesting to compare the two.
