I got this as a present it is amazing it calculates so many things how many calories work your height weight and therefore BMI body mass index if you didn't know. It also
After trying and giving up on the tutorials after about 3 minutes because of the extremely annoying pulsating effect that surrounds the instructor making it very difficult to actually see what step they were trying to teach you I decided to go straight into a Zumba class. The music, steps and routines are all really similar to class I've been to before so I decided I didn't really need the tutorials anyway, however if you are new to Zumba I would maybe suggest persevering... maybe.
It is quite accurate and takes all the same moves and tracks that you will do in a zumba lessons. The msuic difficulty can increase or decrease if you get better but it sometimes deletes your progress and you need to do all the settings again. i do not recommend it at all to the advanced zumba people as it does not have enough difficulty levels to support you this is only for the beginners and the amatures who do not really know how to do this properly.
But it did lose me help lose a lot of weight more that any dietb has ever done so so i would recommend it however it i not appropriate for the experts as mentioned before.
It also doesn't show you onscreen apart from some obscure screens at the back of the game which I think are there for decorative purposes, rather than anything useful, which means you don't get an idea of how you are doing or to check your posture etc.
good point in this game is that it works up a sweat, just like going to a real Zumba class it's high impact exercise and as long as you don't decide to leave the game to go to the loo or anything half way through you do get a good work out from it. I will persevere because I love Zumba and it's very convenient to exercise in your own living room, but it will never replace going to a real class or my love of Dance Central.
I would recommend dance central instead. But this is good for the beginners.
Ive always wanted to go to one of those zumba classes they have but i was always embarrassed. "What if i couldnt keep up?" "What if i cant stick to the rythem?" I wouldn''t want to bring attention to myself, so i never went. Every one has their own insecurities, right? Well mine is tripping on my own two left feet due to no rythem. When i saw that this workout game was out, i had to have it! I fell in love with it instantly. I exercised daily and was able to learn a few dance moves along the way. This definitely helped me tone up and it was fun too! This xbox game definitely deserves a 5 star rating! Try it out.
I wanted to know what all the fuss was about with Zumba so decided that I would get a game to give it a go as I am very uncoordinated and not in the least bit graceful. I cold not go to a class and attempt to dance in front of them as I would be more than a prat so thought that to try it in my own house would be ideal.
In the main screen there is a pink background and it plays a Spanish type song which really gets you in a funky happy mood. It is great for the beginner, not quite offering step by step instructions which can make it hard to keep up with but at least when alone it doesn't matter how much you stumble.
The game requires the Xbox and the Kinect to be able to play it, there are options to play individual songs of your choosing, have fitness routines and even parties. The fitness routine will plan for you using it regularly throughout the week continuously and build up intensity. Each session is about 20 minutes long and to start off with this is plenty as I find myself out of breath and sweating at times.
So when playing the instructor is dancing along to the music and starts off slowly at first and then begins to build pace. You have to match the moves and when doing so there is a bar that you fill if you match perfectly or nearly, the colours are green for perfect through to orange, yellow and red for a miss. This then allows you to score points and then progress along levels and changing backgrounds. It can be annoying at times as sometimes I feel like I have not got a clue how I can match up and often I find myself only getting reds and I have not achieved the coveted zumba instructor status yet. As usual the Kinect sensor can also be a pain in the backside and misses you off the screen if you move, it's impossible to not move in the game!
So nowadays I think the game is now in the bargain bin as it is a little older but if you like zumba, latin and salsa you'll probably like this. It will also save you money in the long run from not having to attend lots of dance classes.
Zumba xbox 360 game
Join the party. What a brilliant game this is. After attending zumba classes for about 3 months i really wanted more, but its difficult to fit excercise classes around children and this seemed like a good idea, ohh i was right. Its worth every penny. A one of kind workout
This game was a great introduction to zumba for me and i'm sure i will be playing it for a long time yet. Ok so what does It offer? step by step guides to all the basic moves and step by step instuctions for the dances .Ok so your more experience don't worry. Zumba has alot to offer you too. There are lots of high energy extreme partys and routines and yes they are hard and will be a challenge i'm sure.
I love the unlockable challenges, this game offers you something to work for. It has a personal workout calender so you can keep track of your exercise routines and there are lots of gamer score challenges to be had. Its colourful, exciting, and fun which is important to me.
How does the game actually work?
Using the k-nect sensor you do your workout infront of you t.v. Imitate the man/woman instructor on the screen when they move, you move. If you get it right then its a bit like thermal imaging they go green, doing ok? your instructor heats orange and not so good then they'll be red. The aim of the game just like a zumba class is definatley to have fun but you do score more points in the green zones. See if you have what it takes to be rated as a "zumba instructor".The game has lots of extras and you wont be bored and really workout and have fun .I will add that the sensor detection can be a bit off sometimes and will fustrate the perfectionist but i'm sure xbox will do updates online for this.
My personal thoughts are that zumba classes are good because lots of instructors put there own dances to more well known music, the game doesn't offer this instead they kept it to latin inspired sounds . Zumba has lots of different inpiration i.e salsa , hip hop, latin .which is why i enjoy it so much this xbox game brings lots of fun for all ages and after 20minutes i've worked up a sweat. i would really advise anyone to give this game a go, its really easy to use and so much fun. Retailing at about £26 its a bargain bit of fun.
Me and the boy went shopping recently and we picked up Kinect for Xbox 360. I'm in absolute love! In my opinion its better then my Wii which I will be selling at some point, with the money i get I might buy my little one a DS or something. I feel kind of bad as Wii has good games for kids, but we wont be using it now we have kinect. Wii is aimed more toward kiddies from 3 years old whereas Kinect isn't exactly aimed at kids at all. my new fitness love is ZUMBA
Everyone knows that Zumba is the 'in' fitness thing and I know exactly why, Its more like having fun than working out! You can burn a mega amount of calories in which seems like a very short time. Although i'm bummed I have to work the calories burned in a 'Zumba class' out by myself.
So in all honestly I find myself a bit of a good mover after downloading the demo I did a couple of runs on that, then brought the game outright.I went straight on to a 45 min workout class intermediate. The game does not tell you what move is next your thrown straight into the deep end. However if you went to a Zumba class that exactly what happens, so I've heard. When dancing you get a person who looks a bit digitalized.
The person goes green when you hitting all the right movements, yellow when your doing some of it and red when you totally off key. It also highlights the areas your not doing right in a circle, so then you can rectify yourself. The bar down the middle goes up as you hit the moves right and then brings you up stages, which get you better points.
In all honesty this game is fairly new to me and i'm navigating my way through it at them moment so im not 100% on everything. Navigation is 'fumpy' there must be another way of making this easier, and im sure they will rectify this in the next game.
This game is all wiggling your hips, moving your legs, waving your arms and shaking what your mama gave ya! Change your clothes into work out clothes when you do this as you get very very very sweaty!
I bought this game as I was getting slightly bored with the repetitive nature of some of the other exercise games for the Kinect. I had the intention of alternating between them and this as it looked a bit more fun although I was unsure as to how effective it would be for fitness. This was to be my first tast of Zumba as I have never attended a class or done the workout DVDs.
I first chose to complete a 20min Zumba Dance Party routine where you (attempt to) copy the lady on the screen through a series of dance routines, scoring points the more accurate your moves are. Well I was dancing around the room like a lunatic but it was amazingly fun!!! And although I didn't feel that what I was doing was anything like what the dancer on the screen was doing, I was scoring points so must have been doing something right! Anyway, I don't really think that it matters if you are doing it right, as long as you are having fun and getting breathless (which I certainly was!).
The music is fantastic. It really makes you want to move and is vey motivational. I was totally exhausted after 20mins and haven't sweated so much in ages!
I haven't got a stomach like the lady on the box yet (much to my husband's disappointment!) but feel that with this game it may be achievable whilst having fun. I can see why the fitness classes are so popular. I can't wait to try the other modes of the game which include Zumba classes, single routines and you can even set up a workout calendar where you can set up and manage your own work out schedule.
I am looking forward to my daily workouts now and have a suspicion that I may be playing this game more than any other!!
