Advantages: Lots of great cars

Disadvantages: Takes a bit of getting used to

I do enjoy playing my driving games and this is a pretty good effort of a game as it is quite challenging to play.

As with previous efforts in the Colin Macray series you get a host of different courses each with their own race surface which means that you have to adapt your driving and racing style to suit the terrain. There are plenty of wooded stages on the gravel as well as the chance to drive across a frozen lake in Sweden.

You get loads of cars to try out and that for me is part of the fun as once you have mastered the great 4wd of the Suburu you can switch to the 2wd Golf to really test your driving skill.

There are various choice for how you wish to congfigure the controls and key in this game is being able to time the gear changes to maintain your speed, that and staying on the course naturally as it is not very forgiving when you make a mistake.

To get access to all the cars you need to play in the career mode of the game and win some races, as you do you will have access to more cars to play with.

Not only do you have to contend with the trecherous courses but the weather also plays its part however I do find it a bit strange that the stages in Greece often are driven in pouring rain. That is why it is important to ensure that the car is set up properly prior to each stage.

I really enjoyed playing this game, the graphics are great and unique to this game is the blurred effect that you suffer to your vision if you have a big crash and cause damage to your car, this effect stays on for a while and makes it difficult to drive meaning that you lose valuable time. The pace notes are provided by Nick Grist, it takes a little getting used to at first but after a while it becomes second nature and frequently when your vision is impaired due to either rain or sunlight you have to rely on his directions to get a good time.

I have certainly had a fair few hours of ejoyment from this game and really do recommend it.
