Fable is a role playing game for the Xbox developed by Lionhead studios.
The story of Fable takes you through life starting as a young boy who is innocently (or not) trying to get his sister a present for her birthday. Everything is just fine for a while until you find your village is burned down and your family is gone. A hero rescues you and takes you to live with him in the Guild of Heroes where you grow up and become a hero yourself.

The rest of the game world then opens to you and then where the story goes and how it unfolds is entirely up to you! The game has a good story and multiple endings depending on your choices so it is definitely worth a couple of playthroughs.

The game has you take on missions as well as live your life as a hero, while just living as you would normally you can go around town and have fun, buy houses with the gold you have, trade with merchants, find a wife (or husband if you are so inclined) and talk to the citizens.

The combat in the game is very good consisting of melee attacks which you can use the standard fare of swords, clubs and maces and so on to attack foes as well as magic attacks which allows you to command lightning and other such wonderful powers.

You can also become a good character or an evil hero, the game goes far beyond the boundaries of what can be considered normal. The good hero character will help people out saving people from monsters, and not kill anybody where as an evil hero will break laws, attack citizens at will that sort of thing. The visual difference is really striking too, as a good hero you become a fair haired champion but as an evil doer your skin will warp into a nasty blue colour and you will have red eyes and can even grow horns! It is a bit extreme but it works well.

Graphics are good with detailed towns and characters. There is also a lot of voice over which is recorded very well.

Fable is a rather unique game, it has an interesting story that you can shape and fun choices for you to make which make it worth playing multiple times.

Summary: An excellent game.
