Forza Motorsport is a racing game developed by Turn 10 exclusively for the
Microsoft Xbox.

The game doesn't have a storyline but like Gran Turismo it consists of an Arcade mode where you can check out a few of the cars on a number of different racing circuits, and the Career mode where you can begin your in depth career from a rookie race driver to a racing legend.

The way you progress through the career of Forza Motorsport is by levelling up your driver which opens up new race events to you and allows you to buy more of the games cars. You level up by participating in races and earning money, every bit you earn will contribute to you levelling up. You can also get bonuses from levelling up which come in the form of discounts from manufacturers.

The cars in the game consist of 231 licensed vehicles, you can choose from the likes of Subaru, Saab, Vauxhall, TVR, Mercedes and the game even includes prestigious brands such as Ferrari and Pagani which were not offered with the competing version of Gran Turismo. The game also features extensive car tuning and you can tweak every aspect of your ride also.

Racing is how difficult or how hard you want it to be, if you are a new driver you can turn on assists like traction control, ABS to keep you on the road, the game also has a new driving line feature which will show you the ideal racing line on the track and is green when you need to accelerate and red at braking points, once familiar with the tracks you can turn it off. Damage is included and you can really mess up some of your cars destroying body panels and scraping the paintwork along with wrecking the engine, you can turn damage on to just be cosmetic if you find yourself damaging your car too often.

Forza Motorsport also features a Drivatar which is basically a computer which will drive your car for you but you train it so it mimics your driving style! This feature is really helpful for some of the endurance races which have you sitting there for hours! The game also has a paint feature where you can customize the look of your car and add shapes and decals to it, I am not much of an artist but if you go on Xbox Live you will be astonished at what some people have done.

Graphics are superb, some of the best on the system with highly accurate cars and supremely detailed tracks to race around, the damage model is the highlight though.

Forza Motorsport is an excellent racing game for the Xbox, petrol heads Gran Turismo is not your only option any more!

Summary: An excellent racing experience.
