Advantages: Simple interface, Fun, Many weapons + maps - Variety

Disadvantages: Online community is small nowadays

Halo 2 is one of the greatest games ever and I played it loads and loads everyday over Xbox Live. It features a good campaign with a few annoying levels, but the rest are exciting. The game is very simplistic and ever so fun! It is a typical first-person shooter as you go through many levels fighting against aliens in a good storyline.

The story is quite complex and hard to get a grip of, but it is a very revealing and good plot. The basic story is that there is a Halo ring that the covenant (a bunch of aliens) believe brings them on a great journey if they fire it, however it would destroy the earth and mankind if fired. So basically, you have to get onto the Halo ring and find the control centre and destroy the ring before the Covenant can fire it.

The actual single player (campaign), is very good. You will fight through quite a few levels killing aliens as you go. It starts off rather easy and gets harder as you advance. The controls are introduced from the beginning to make sure you are familiar with them before you go into combat. The levels are all very different to each other but some are a bit annoying when you are fighting certain races that are just so aggravating like 'The Flood'. This is a certain race that used to inhibit the Halo years and years ago and you have to fight them on one level called Library. It is so annoying as loads of little enemies all attack you and literally climb on you, draining away your health.

Each level is very unique as I say. There are some huge open levels, where you will use vehicles to drive around. There are other levels where you are in confined spaces indoors, which have a very different feel to them. I prefer the large open levels, but they tend to be harder with snipers around on Legendary mode (the hardest difficulty). As for multiplayer levels, there are plenty of them. The standard ones that came on the game are very good, but Bungie (the creators) released many more new levels for download - some of which are pretty good. They also differ from large open levels to small confined levels with aspects of symmetry for 2 bases and more.

The multiplayer is fantastic and I played thousands of games on Xbox Live. There are loads of playlists - ranked and social including Team Slayer, Double Team, Team Skirmish and Team Snipers. Team Slayer is simply a 4 Vs 4 game of killing the other team. Double Team is where you enter as a pair and fight against another pair. Team Skirmish focuses on objective games such as King of the hill, Territories and Oddball (where you have to hold the ball whilst not being killed and reach the time limit). The addition of ranks in most playlists makes it very addicting. The community is pretty small with the release of the new Halo 3.

As for the graphics, they are very simplistic. The shapes are very simple and nothing is to great detail. However, the actual general look of the game is excellent as the colours are done well and it looks clear. The simplistic look and feel of this game is what makes it so great, because it is simple and fun. There are no detailed or hard to understand concepts to the game. You literally use weapons and grenades to kill opponents and succeed in your missions. The sound isn't of great quality comparing it to newer games, but for the time it was released at, I think the sound is pretty good. The weapons sound realistic and the grenades are effective. This game also works with surround sound, which is a bonus really.

Overall, it is an excellent game and very fun to play. You can buy this game from £7.44 on amazon.co.uk used and new from members of the site. This is a very cheap price, and is repeated in shops for a similar price of around £10. This game is very fun to play through and the online community is still present, but rather small. Still worth the buy for such little money!

Thanks for reading,

I like the Halo games, but never as much as anyone else. I only got LIVE this year and I play Call of Duty 4 over Halo3.
