Making the original Ninja Gaiden (the Xbox version) better in every way, this is well worth buying if you like regularly punishing yourself!
Story: Ryu Hyabusa is the last of his clan and he is on a tale of bloody and grim revenge through a series of cities and environments!
Gameplay: Man is this game hard, after many issues with the first game about its difficulty, Team Ninja decided to include a 'Ninja Dog' difficulty (very easy mode), to make the game more open for players of lesser skill to play! However if you go on the normal difficulty, it will really beat you down every time and you have to use every move in Ryu's arsenal to get a high score (let alone survive)! You can use a variety of moves (with more unlocked as your gain more experience from your dead enemies)! There are a large variety of enemies within the game, with Ryu being able to unleash an insane amount of combos. You also have the ability to launch magic against your enemies (although this isn't recommended) as it is quite rare and should be used against the insanely hard bosses. Seriously even if you learn the attack pattern, they will beat you down again and again!
Graphics and Sound: Insanely beautiful, this game allows you to see your enemies being gloriously slashed up and some of the larger bosses (especially towards the end of the game), look great! The sound of the slashes also gives that gory sword-slice-flesh type sound that I haven't heard recreated in any other game!
Online: Since the game provides the two Hurricane Packs provided for the first game, costumes, the NES game and other unlockables, there is no online required for this game!
Ninja Gaiden Black is an action game developed by Team Ninja for the Xbox.
The story of Ninja Gaiden Black follows a master ninja called Ryu Hayabusa, you are on a mission to infiltrated a shadow ninja fortress and visit your uncle who is a crazed nunchuck wielding guy! During your visit Ayane a ninja from the Hayabusa clan informs Ryu that his village is under attack and he rushes back to see what could be going on. He finds that the legendary Dragon Blade has been taken and the game follows his story to retrieve it and revenge himself on the people that attacked his clan. The story is pretty good and kept me interested with the developments throughout the game.
The gameplay is extremely high octane and fast paced, Ryu is a ninja and is extremely acrobatic expect to be running along walls, leaping from side to side as you chimney jump your way up an obstacle and so on. His ninja moves also translate into extreme swordsmanship as well as proficiency with throwing stars and other ninja accessories. You actually feel like a master ninja in this game.
The combat itself is excellent, you can use quick sword attacks in combinations with dodging out of the way along with more powerful moves which you perform by holding down the attack button, these are really impressive as Ryu will dash rapidly toward his enemy and unleash a series of swift blows. The enemies can be extremely punishing if you don't remember to dodge out of the way especially the ones that wield guns and the boss fights.
Gameplay in Black has been enhanced most notably with a difficulty mode, though this is not accessible right away. If you fail a mission or fight repeatedly an option will appear for you to play the game in the Ninja Dog difficulty. This mode I found to be far easier as Ayane will help you out with a lot of healing items along with hints of where to go.
Graphics are some of the sharpest on the system with detailed characters and environments.
If you ever have ever felt the urge to dress up in black spandex and lob throwing stars at people, buy this game!
I Have Only Recently bought this game and am only half way through it but it is already my favourite game for Xbox. I was Actually Given It As A Mistake As I Paid For Ninja Gaiden But Give Black Instead :D
The Plot Is Quite Simple as you play as a young ninja who has just had his home village destroyed. In that village was a dark dragon blade which in the wrong hands could unleash a power that will threaten the world. In this raid the dark dragon blade was stolen and the young ninja is out to seek revenge for his village and to retrieve the dark dragon blade.
the gameplay in this game is truly astonishing with huge levels and an array of weapons and techniques you can unlock that always give the game new twists and interest.
The Game Itself i have found incredibly difficult with even level 1 proving hard and the bosses at the end of each level always proving a challenge.
Graphically the game is amazing for Xbox and can often be mistaken for 360.
The controls are very easy to use.
the only flaw of the game is the camera angles which are truly woeful from time to time especially when indoors or turning corners.
Ninja Gaiden Black is the next in the series, which was very successful with the first Ninja Gaiden. The storyline is actually fairly simple; you play as a highly skilled ninja named Ryu and your home village is attacked. When it was attacked. the Dark Dragon Blade was stolen from you and the main idea of the game is seeking revenge and returning what is yours.
This is another very highly rated game that I have reviewed, getting a 9.4 from IGN. This is an impressive score. It isn't surprising because the game has amazing graphics for its time and intelligent opponents. They will fight very well and you will have to master the difficult controls to beat this game. There is a lot of action and the game is known for being difficult even on the easiest difficulty. It can get frustrating at times but if you're looking for a challenge, then get this game.
The controls, although complicated, are perfect when you have perfected them. They run smoothly and getting combos and learning new moves is all part of the fun.
Ninja Gaiden Black is a follow up to the very good Ninja Gaiden and this update is even better than the original. There is so much packed into this game and it is a real treat to play.
You take on the role of Ryu a young master ninja whose village is attacked and the Dark Dragon Blade is stolen, you set out to retrieve the blade and seek revenge on those who attacked your village.
The action in this game is relentless and it is one of the best action adventure come fighting games that I have ever played. The controls do take a while to get the hang of but once you have mastered them then the effort is worth it as you are rewarded with a great game.
What makes this game so good is that it is very challenging, the enemies are varied, very capable and the intelligence is good however you also have some pretty impressive moves to combat them, often you will find yourself very close to dying and a lot of fights go right to the limit. I also found that changing the difficulty level on this game has a big impact so even when you have mastered one setting the next one is a real challenge giving you lots of game play time.
It is not all straight fighting, you do have to explore and discover hidden treasures and items that will help you in future battles. You also have to make use of Ryu ninja skills and the ability to run up vertical walls and make huge leaps is very useful.
Visually the game is excellent, the opponents are varied and well put together and there is a great variety in the settings and sheer scale of the game. As well as the standard game there are a number of different modes including a mission mode and also the original arcade game.
Definitely a game that comes highly recommended and is available under the x-box classics banner for £11.24 in the new and used section of Amazon.
