As I barrelled down dusty roads and fishtailed round tight corners with the engine of my Subaru Impreza WRX grunting sweetly in my ears, birds skittered from my path with unimagined realism. I will first openly declare myself a Colin McRae II fan so all who read this know by what criteria this game is being judged. This game is produced by Digital Illusions CE "dice" in conjunction with Microsoft. They have brought us games such as Shrek (soon to be reviewed once I get around to playing it) and Midtown Madness. Rallisport Challenge I definitely like and my Formula-1 2002 has now been consigned to the game rack as a consequence. The intro' to Rallisprt Challenge leaves you in no doubt where the game's coming from. "Mud!" it enthuses. "Ice!" it bawls. "Dirt!" it shrieks. "150mph!" it bellows. "One big grin on your face!" it mumbles, a bit flatly. Hmmm. Rally driving is the harder, nastier, dirtier alternative to the la-di-da likes of F1.
