Advantages: Cool stealth based game

Disadvantages: Bit short

It would be really cool to have psychic powers, lottery wins and gambling coups as well as being able to tell if the hunky guy chatting you up is Mr Right or just Mr Right Now.

Well in Second Sight you do get such powers however you have to use them for much more mundane things in this game such as battling an evil Russian scientist and also trying to discover a bit about your past. In the game you take on the role of John Vattic and you find yourself in a medical institution with no idea who you are except for the fact that you have a few psychic powers.

This game is split into two storylines and you alternate between the two, the first focuses on your search for your own identity whilst the second flashes back six months and your mission to investigate the scientist. The game also alternates between action scenes where you shoot everything in sight and missions where stealth is the most important quality as you seek to avoid detection. Amongst the psychic powers to assist you is the ability to make yourself invisible to others, the ability to fling things around and also project your image.

What I liked about this game is the fact that there is a good amount of variety in the game play which means that it never gets boring. There are a good range of missions and it is not just a case of mashing the buttons to get through to the end you do have to engage your brain to solve the problems that the game throws at you.

Visually the game is very appealing with a slight comic feel to it; the characters respond well and are fluid in their movements.

The only downside to the game is the fact that although there are 17 missions to complete they do not take very long therefore there is not a lot on playing time on the game and no real excitement in returning to complete levels for more than a couple of goes otherwise the game play becomes very mechanical.

Well worth checking out but I would recommend renting it for a couple of days and you may find that you have completed it. If you do want to buy then it is available on Amazon for a pricey £33.99 new or a more reasonable £2.90 in the new and used category.

Summary: Action based stealth game.

A good start to the review but I think it could be inproved by saying more about the powers and how are they involed within the gameplay. Eddie (New PC/Video Games Guide)
