This is a fun game to play although it never quite climbs to the heights of a classic it certainly has enough entertainment value to make it worth checking out.

The game pretty much follows the plot of the second Spiderman film with Peter Parkers alter ego taking on Doctor Octo however there are also a few extra foes to battle against at the same time in an effort to extend the game play.

The purpose of the game is to achieve a number of objectives as you roam around the sprawling sky line of Manhattan, the most fun to be had is in your ability t swing through the skyline and whilst there are two settings for this it is worth mastering the more difficult controls to get the most fun although I must admit the first few times I played the game I kept it on the easy option however I did then begin to find the game a bit repetitive and lacking in challenge.

One of the problems with the game is that the tasks you have to complete do become a bit repetitive and these is a shame as it does bring the game down a bit and make it quite predictable. The boss battles are quite good though and do compensate for the repetition in the tasks. The fight scenes are pretty good however it does tend to dissolve down to a button mashing exercise.

Visually the game is pretty good and one of the strengths is the detail that has gone in to the locations you find yourself in although the lack of a decent sound system does let it down a bit.

On the whole it is a pretty good game which could have been even better and it is definitely worth checking out although maybe as a rental as the lack of challenge means it only has two or three days worth of game play to it.
