This is a review of the hit game called Star Wars Battlefront for the XBOX, which is also on other consoles such as PS2 and PC. As the movie franchise has had a big success they decide to bring out games to cover the story or a story that is new. Star Wars Battlefront is a whole new type of Star Wars game, it is a 3rd person shooter, which enables you to choose your troop, choose the empire you follow and to even choose where you want to start on the battlefield.

There are many modes in the game; there is the Campaign, which you will follow throughout the story of two eras' in the Star Wars universe. Then there is Galactic Conquest which practically is you taking over the universe in many different time era's. Then there is instant action, which allows you to pick a battle and get straight into a war. This game also enables you to have mass wars on the internet via XBOX Live. Where a maximum of 32 people can be in a battle at once.

When you go into a battle, you will first choose which command post you wish to spawn at, then choose which type of troop, there are a few different troops, which have different weapons for you to play with, like you can have a blaster rifle trooper, or a rocket launcher trooper and each unit has its own advantages against different enemy units. Then once you have chosen your trooper you wish to be, you will spawn at the selected Command Post you selected previously. Then in the battle the aim of the game is to either take out all of the enemy forces, or control all of the Command Posts on the battlefield.

Command Posts are scattered on the battlefield, and you will be able to find them on the mini map in game and will notice them as they glow a certain colour, red means that is an enemy Command Post, yellow means that it is a Command Post taken by the people whom live on the planet, white means it is a neutral Command Post and is up for grabs by anyone and green means that it is your Command Post you have either taken over or started with. You take Command Posts by standing by it for so long; you will see an icon pop up showing you that you are taking it, and how long it will take till you gain control of it.

When you get more Command Posts, more troops will spawn in that area and you will have the option to spawn there yourself. When you die, you will be able to re-spawn, and change your troop and where to spawn. You can only loose a battle if all of your reinforcements are taken out or you don't have any Command Posts under control.

The two eras' you will be able to battle in are the Clone Wars and the Galactic Empire, and in each era you will be good and bad. In the Clone Wars you will be the CIS and the Clone Troopers, while in the Galactic Empire you will be able to be the Galactic Empire and the Rebels. You are unable to be a Jedi/Sith in this game, but that does not make this any less then it is, as it is a brilliant game.

As it is in 3rd person, you may think that it will be hard to play, yet it is not, it may seem difficult when you first get your hands on it, but it is easy to get use to the controls and surprisingly easy to get really good at the game. The game is also two players, which is co-operative mode, which allows you to do the story with a friend, which can make the battles even better and more fun which is a good thing, but on XBOX Live you will have sixteen other players on your side plus having computer allies which makes it like a big war.

Also in the battles, you are able to command units, you have four commands, there is follow me, hold this position, move out, or at ease. Each of them are valuable, and best to use a lot, as depending on your commands is depending on if you take advantage of the battle or not. There are more things to this game that makes this game excellent, and that is that every vehicle you see or know of in the Star Wars films is yours to control, you are able to drive/ride every vehicle you see on the battlefield which makes this game even better.

Also in Star Wars Battlefront, you will be able to re-visit famous battles from the films themselves, the only film this game does not cover is Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, but it does not need to cover it to be the best. But overall this game is great, and the battles on loads of different planets are just brilliant, and the massive battles are awesome and great fun with just you or with mates.

Star Wars Battlefront is very enjoyable game to play, with mates, on your own, or even Online, it is very playable, and loads of things on there for you to have fun, and loads of items to unlock. The game is very addictive, when you start playing it; you will keep playing it all the time, and then introduces the game to your mates which will then end up playing it for even longer. The game is very original, it has a great new style to the game, and is the first game I know that is done like this, in the 3rd person action battle madness game.

The graphics are fairly decent, it is smooth, not jumpy; the environments are fantastic as you get to revisit old planets from the Star Wars films and some new battlefields you never got to experience, which is all smooth and fantastically detailed. The background sound to the game is brilliant, it takes music from the films which then you know this is defiantly a Star Wars game, and the music defiantly sets the mood of the battles with the cool orchestrated sounds of Star Wars. The game is all voiced, you will here someone de-briefing you before a battle, and you will get soldiers talking to you during the battle, which is great. The sound effects are masterful; you hear the sounds like it would be in the motion pictures.

The game can be difficult at some places, especially if you are new to the game and end up dying all the time, but it does get easier when you get better, but you can always increase the difficulty when you get better at the game. The game is great value for money, as I got this game for £7.97 new, as someone at the counter when I got it screwed up (which was good) but you can find it fairly cheap nowadays anyway which is a good thing too. Overall I thought this game was very good, epic battles, you can have space fights, take over the universe, have special functions on Galactic Conquest to make the battles easier or worse, you could be on the battlefield with an ally Jedi/Sith which is awesome. I give this game 5 star * * * * *, as I see no flaws in this accept it may be a bit repetitive at some times, but that's when you need a break from the game, but then again most games are repetitive, but that does not make them a bad game.

THIS GAME IS

Epic
Brilliant
Star Wars

THIS GAME IS NOT

Always Repetitive
Boring
Like Other Star Wars Games

You can find this game for £14.99 on Play.com
