The Chronicles Of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay is a shooter developed by Vivendi.

The story follows the character of Richard B Riddick who has been captured by the bounty hunter Johns and is taken along to the maximum security prison called Butcher Bay, the aim is quite simple to simply escape from the prison but it is a long a tough journey and you will have to team up with in mates and shoot your way past a lot of guards before you will be free! The story is actually very good and is well told as you have many conversations with in mates which really helps set the scene.

The game has you perform a number of things, at the start you will have no weapons but your fists and you will have to help out the in mates in the prison to obtain basic items such as knives (shivs). The actual fist fighting gameplay is very good with a wide range of moves available and the blows really look brutal and nasty, the game shows this off very well as there are numerous opportunities to beat up in mates and even a fighting tournament later in the game.

There is stealth gameplay and it is handled very well, Riddick can go into a hidden stealth mode to avoid conflict and perform some brutal stealth kills and even hide the body so other guards wont suspect that something is wrong. Later on in the game he can even use his eyeshine ability to see in dark areas giving you a real advantage over the guards and making sneaking around a viable alternative to gunning foes down.

The shooting gameplay is very good too and you will get some brutal prison officer issue weapons later in the game liek an assault rifle, pistol and shotgun. The gunplay is really brutal and lets you take aim down the weapon sights to go for a headshot, the guns really feel powerful too with liberal amounts of gore in the game.

The graphics are excellent with sharp detailed characters and a really gritty prison environment, Riddick looks like Vin Diesel and is voiced by him too.

Riddick has it all, an excellent stealth system, superb melee combat and brutal gun combat. It's also packing a good story and spectacular graphics, don't miss it!
