I stayed here and it was one of the best backpacker hostels that I have ever stayed in!
Anyone who has visited Las Vegas knows that it is not cheap to find somewhere to stay- especially if your budget was of the backpacker kind, as mine was.
I found out that there were only three hostels in Las Vegas, and I chose this one because it had some good reviews on the travel websites I use to book the places I stay in.
I was delighted I did choose this one!
Firstly, the hostel was lovely. It was clean and extremely comfortable. They had an optional breakfast which you had to pay for, but which was cheap, so most of the people staying there had breakfast. The common room was nice with a huge tv. The pool was clean (if a little small).
Secondly, and most importantly, the service was absolutely brilliant! I cannot commend the staff here enough. I had some difficulties while I was there and they helped me out immensely.
The location is also good- about a forty minute walk from the main action on the strip, quite close to a small supermarket, and only a short bus ride (or possibly a walk, if you're feeling good!) from the bus station (though from the airport you will need to take a bus or a taxi, as it is about three miles away).
Las Vegas; the American capital of decadence, is home to it's fair share of cheap accomodation, the purpose of which is to keep you in Vegas, where there's only one thing to do - Gamble. The Las Vegas Backpackers Resort ($13-17 per night) is a youth hostel on Fremont Street, just downtown of 'The Strip', but close to 'The Fremont Experience', which is a collection of casinos downtown, which is more aimed at people with cups full of nickels than the Texan high-rollers who frequent Caeser's Palace. The Hostel itself is superb - the rooms are clean and spacious, with their own bathroom, and a TV (unfortunately we couldn't get a signal). They offer a wide range of tours and trips - and sell an evening meal. Undoubtedly the star attraction of the hostel is the swimming pool, which is a godsend when it's 120F in high summer. There's also a spa in the courtyard. The main problem with this hostel is the area. As with many budget hotels, it's located in the cheapest part of town. The best way to get to the Casinos without attracting the attention of some (probably harmless, but infuriating) nutters is to get a taxi.
