Advantages: cheap and cheerful

Disadvantages: a little basic

Just of King Faisal street and five minutes from the sites of Amman, location is one of the biggest selling points for Mansour Hostel. being back off the street also means that noise is kept to a relative minimum and getting a good nights sleep is possible.

Inside the hostel offers double, single and dorm rooms for reasonably cheap prices. As with everything here bargaining is possible for room prices particularly in the off-season, however the 'set' costs are 3JD for a large dorm and 10 JD for a private double. 1JD is currently roughly equivalent to the British Pound.

The rooms are on the whole run down and a little grubby but in comparison to other hostels it is about on par. The bathrooms were similarly unkept but were clean and had a constant hot water available.

The hostel also offers a common area downstairs with cable TV (although it usually showed Arabic channels for the owners). The staff were friendly and helpful with some English spoken and can arrange taxis and tours at good prices.

Overall this is a reasonable option within this price range, better quality is available but at a much higher price.

Summary: No-frills but provides everything you need
