Advantages: Quiet and comfortable

Disadvantages: not so easy to meet people

Depending on the point of view the Red Star is either ideal or a disaster as a hostel. It has all the basics, hot water, laundry service and an array of room choice. From a strict necessity point of view, the hostel overachieves as the rooms are comfortable and well-decorated. Compared to other hostels it does not feel run-down or badly kept. The bathrooms are also very clean and there are enough so that you don't have to wait ages for others to finish showering.

This is not a party hostel and travelling in eastern Europe this could be a welcome break-get a good nights sleep in comfortable surroundings. But it doesn't invite you to stay around longer than planned and particularly for single travellers the lack of the social aspect can make it more difficult to meet others.

The location is great as it is off the main street, easy to find and not far to either the centre for the start of a day of sightseeing or for the start of a pub and club session. The staff are also friendly and can advise on either.

This is a good hostel and may be exactly what some people want, just be aware it isn't a place to start a huge party from!

Summary: Chilled out hostel but could do with a bit more atmosphere sometimes
