When I was last in Moscow, I ended up staying at Comrade Hostel in the Kitai-Gorod area of the city. A bunk bed in a 10 bed dorm costs £13 at the moment, which is relatively cheap by Moscow standards! The hostel is run by an extremely helpful and knowledgeable young Russian called Dennis, who provides no end of useful information. During my stay he took myself and some other travellers out for authentic Georgian food in a random area of Moscow, and also booked a train ticket for me using his personal credit card so I could make sure I got the train I wanted.

Anyway, the price includes beddding, use of the communal kitchen and free internet. It's a pretty sociable place to stay, with plenty of other young people and vodka drinking to keep the conversation flowing. It's quite handily situated, just a few streets down from the KGB HQ and about a 15 min walk from red square. There are loads of little shops and restaurants nearby, including a reasonably priced McDonalds for those vodka induced hangovers!!! It's about a 10 min walk from the nearest metro station, which isn't too much of a hardship. The hostel itself isn't the easiest to find, tucked away on the 3rd floor in a courtyard, so make sure you print off the directions you get emailed!

All in all, my stay here was one of the highlights of my trip to Russia.
